Brewers optioned RHP Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville.
Rodriguez heads back to the minors after compiling a cringe-inducing 7.30 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (three starts). The 22-year-old pitching prospect will get some additional seasoning out of the spotlight, but figures to get another look at some point down the road.

Carlos Rodriguez was hit hard in a losing effort against the Padres on Saturday night, giving up four runs on six hits over his four innings of work.
The rookie right-hander struck out two batters on the day and didn’t issue a base on balls. He kept the Padres off the board completely through the first three innings but ran into a buzzsaw in the fourth where Jackson Merrill clobbered a three-run homer and Ha-Seong Kim tacked on a solo shot. The 22-year-old hurler got six swings and misses on 72 pitches in the ballgame, posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent. He now holds a miserable 7.30 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and a 9/3 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 innings through his first three starts on the season. He’s lined up to take on the Cubs his next time out at home on Friday — provided the Brewers don’t option him back to Triple-A and replace him in their rotation with Jakob Junis.

Carlos Rodriguez lost to the Angels after allowing five runs — four earned — in 4 2/3 innings Monday.
Rodriguez retired seven in a row to start the game, but things went south in the third and fourth, and Rodriguez wasn’t given a chance to pitch his way out of trouble in the fifth. It’s unclear if he’ll get another start after this, as the Brewers could have Jakob Junis replace him this weekend. The stuff is there for Rodriguez to be at least a useful bottom-of-the-rotation starter in the majors, but more Triple-A time is a possibility.

Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy confirmed Saturday that rookie right-hander Carlos Rodriguez will draw another start on Monday against the Angels in Los Angeles.
The 22-year-old hurler was knocked around for two runs on seven hits over 3 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays in his big-league debut on Tuesday. Given the fact that he struggled to a 5.17 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 62 2/3 innings at Triple-A Nashville before he was recalled, and was then hit hard by the light-hitting Blue Jays, it’s probably best to avoid Rodriguez for fantasy purposes despite his upcoming two-start week.

Carlos Rodriguez allowed two earned runs over 3 2/3 innings while striking out four in the Brewers’ loss to the Blue Jays.
Rodriguez threw 71 pitches in his MLB debut, giving up seven hits while also walking a batter. Despite allowing eight batters to reach base, he was able to limit the Blue Jays to just two runs but received no run support from the Brewers in return. One of the top pitchers in the Brewers’ minor league system, the 22-year-old Rodriguez is scheduled to make his next start on Monday against the Angels.

Brewers selected the contract of RHP Carlos Rodríguez from Triple-A Nashville.
Rodríguez is one of the top pitching prospects in Milwaukee’s system and will take the ball for Tuesday’s contest against the Blue Jays for his major-league debut. The 22-year-old righty gets the call to the big leagues after posting a pedestrian 5.17 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 66/29 K/BB ratio across 62 2/3 innings (12 appearances, 11 starts). There’s clearly some talent here, but fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach. However, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him excel against a floundering Toronto lineup that has yet to really take off this season.

Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Brewers will call up Carlos Rodriguez on Tuesday to start against the Blue Jays.
It’ll be Rodriguez’s MLB debut. The 22-year-old has posted a 5.12 ERA over his 62 2/3 innings thus far, but he’s been much better since May and he’s considered one of the better pitching prospects in baseball. There’s some risk that comes with the reward, but Rodriguez is a name to keep an eye on in both the short and long-term.

Brewers optioned C Jeferson Quero and OF Chris Roller to Triple-A Nashville, optioned RHP Bradley Blalock to Double-A Biloxi, and reassigned 1B Wes Clarke, RHP Sam Carlson, RHP Evan McKendry, RHP Tobias Myers, and RHP Carlos Rodriguez to minor league camp.
Quero is one of the Brewers’ top prospects. In 2023, he hit .262/.339/.441 with 16 homers and five stolen bases across 381 plate appearances with Double-A Biloxi. He is considered one of the better catching prospects in the minor leagues and could up making his major league debut sometime during the 2024 season.
