Carlos Marmol issued eight walks and surrendered six runs through five innings Saturday in a no-decision versus the Rockies.
Marmol should have to worry about his rotation spot with Wade Miller and Sean Marshall returning soon. He’s walked 55 batters while compiling a 5.85 ERA in his 12 starts.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Wednesday night’s game between the Diamondbacks and Cubs was postponed due to rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Enrique Gonzalez and Juan Cruz will start for the Diamondbacks. We assume the Cubs will counter with Carlos Marmol and Juan Mateo. It could easily be a busy day for both bullpens.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol was tagged for seven runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Five of the runs came in the first inning. Marmol hasn’t been all that bad, but he still hasn’t pitched more than six innings in any of his 10 starts for the Cubs. It’s mostly because of poor command: he walked three more batters and hit Orlando Hudson today.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol could start for the Cubs if Kerry Wood is unable to pitch on Sunday.
Marmol has been great, out of the bullpen, since being called up from Double-A West Tennessee last week. He could have some value in NL-only leagues if Wood has to return to the disabled list. Keep an eye on him.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol earned a win in his first major league start by holding the Reds to one run and two hits over six innings on Sunday.
Marmol walked three and hit a batter, but it didn’t hurt him. The lone run came on a solo homer from David Ross. Marmol struck out seven. He definitely earned himself another start with the performance, and NL-only leaguers might want to give him a bench spot for now.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol surrendered four runs in six innings Saturday in a loss to the Tigers.
Marmol bounced back well after a three-run first, so it wasn’t a total loss. While he’s not guaranteed another start before Kerry Wood returns, there’s a good chance he’ll get at least one more opportunity. He could be kept as a reliever following Wood’s activation.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol will remain in the Cubs’ rotation for now.
Marmol was impressive on Sunday when he held the Reds to one run and six hits. The Cubs have Monday off and will skip Glendon Rusch’s turn in the rotation instead of Marmol’s. He is worth a look in NL-only leagues.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Carlos Marmol will make the first start of his major league career on Sunday.
Marmol is taking Kerry Wood’s turn in the rotation. He has been very effective since he joined the Cubs so he could have some value in NL-only leagues.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
Cubs recalled RHP Carlos Marmol from Double-A West Tenn.
Marmol, a bit of a late bloomer after opening his career as a position player, was 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA, 42 H and 67/25 K/BB in 58 IP for West Tenn. The Cubs will try him as a reliever. It’s unlikely that he’s up for good this time, but he is worth watching.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher
The Cubs could call up Carlos Marmol from Double-A West Tennessee when Scott Williamson has to go on the disabled list.
Marmol has 67 K’s this season for West Tennessee. He won’t have any fantasy value in the Cubs’ bullpen.
