Carlos Carrasco, who was designated for assignment by the Guardians in September, said he hopes to pitch for two more seasons.
We were guessing Carrasco was done after a second straight rough season, but he’s not ready to call it yet. The 37-year-old went 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA before Cleveland let him go. In 2023, he was 3-8 with a 6.80 ERA in 20 starts for the Mets. His ERA is down about three mph from his heyday, and home runs have been a big issue for him since the start of the decade. He’ll likely have to settle for a minor league deal this winter.

Guardians sent RHP Carlos Carrasco outright to Triple-A Columbus.
Carrasco was designated for assignment as part of a roster crunch on Tuesday. He’s been out since early August with a left hip strain. Carrasco is no longer on the 40-man roster, but remains in the Guardians’ organization. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to start for Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.

Guardians designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment.
Carrasco was already on the injured list with a hip strain. The Guardians were forced to boot him off the 40-man roster to make space for Myles Straw after Steven Kwan went on the injured list. Carrasco went 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 103 2/3 innings this year.

Guardians placed RHP Carlos Carrasco on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Aug. 8, with a left hip strain.
It was probably either this or a DFA for Carrasco, who dropped to 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA with a loss to Arizona on Wednesday. Alex Cobb will take his spot in the rotation.

Carlos Carrasco yielded four runs in 4 1/3 innings to take a loss in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.
Carrasco has lost his last four decisions, and he is now 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA for the season. Unfortunately, it really doesn’t look like he’s going to make it to the end of the year with the Guardians.

Carlos Carrasco allowed just one hit, but four walks and one run in 4 1/3 innings on Friday against the Orioles. He also struck out five batters.
Carrasco was not going to let this Orioles lineup beat him. He nibbled around the edges all night and forced some very impressive takes from rookies Coby Mayo and Jackson Holliday, but just that one run. This is what the 37-year-old Carrasco has been reduced to at this point in his career.

Carlos Carrasco allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Phillies on Saturday.
Carrasco gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. Things came apart for Carrasco in the fourth inning. After Bryce Harper and Brandon Marsh each hit two-run home runs, he allowed back-to-back singles before he recorded the second out of the inning and Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt went to his bullpen. Nick Sandlin entered and immediately gave up a three-run home run to Kyle Schwarber with two of the runs still Carrasco’s responsibility. It was his second straight start with six runs allowed. Carrasco has a 5.68 ERA on the season. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles at home next week.

Carlos Carrasco was torched for six runs over 5 1/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Tigers.
Carrasco was unfortunately tasked with wearing it during a one-sided affair to spare Cleveland’s bullpen after surrendering four runs in the first two frames. The veteran right-hander coughed up nine hits, inclduing a two-run homer to rookie Justyn-Henry Malloy in the first inning. He’s struggled to a bloated 5.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 74/26 K/BB ratio across 91 1/3 innings (18 starts) this season and it’s fair to wonder whether it makes sense for Cleveland to continue handing him the ball in the midst of a playoff race. He’ll square off against the Phillies on Saturday in a challenging road matchup and isn’t a recommended fantasy option at this stage of his career.

Carlos Carrasco allowed six hits and two runs, one earned, in five innings of work against the Rays on Friday. He struck out two and walked one in a loss.
Carrasco turned in a fine outing against a paltry Rays lineup. He led with his slider and it missed plenty of bats. Yet, that same slider allowed doubles to both Josh Lowe and Alex Jackson which led to both Rays’ runs. Carrasco will take a 5.02 ERA into the All-Star break.

Carlos Carrasco allowed three runs on six hits in five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Sunday.
The veteran struck out four and walked one, posting a 30 percent CSW. He didn’t miss many bats with nine whiffs on 43 swings, and he’s certainly a low-upside fantasy play, even against a struggling Rays offense next week.
