Kennedy has played in seven games for the Phillies this season, going 2-for-10 with two RBI.

Kennedy is booted off the active roster with Edmundo Sosa activated off of the 10-day injured list.

Kennedy is coming up to serve as infield depth with Alec Bohm going on the injured list. He’s hit .272 with 13 home runs and 46 RBI in 102 games at Triple-A this year.

With Weston Wilson coming back from the Paternity List, Kennedy will head back to Triple-A where he has a .313/.415/.543 slash line with nine home runs and 39 RBIs in 56 games since being acquired from the Tigers.

The 29-year-old missed three days and will now come back to his regular role as a starter against left-handed pitching. Congrats to Weston and his growing family. Buddy Kennedy was optioned in a corresponding move.

With Weston Wilson going on the Paternity list, Kennedy will serve as a bench bat for the Phillies over the next few days. The 25-year-old was acquired from the Tigers back in June and is hitting .313/.415/.543 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs in 56 Triple-A games for the Phillies.

Wilson is a regular starter for the Phillies against left-handed pitching, but the team isn’t set to face a left-hander until Saturday, so it’s possible his absence won’t lead to any missed playing time. Buddy Kennedy was called up from Triple-A to take his spot on the active roster.

Kennedy was traded one day after clearing waivers and being sent outright to Triple-A. Now he’ll be in Triple-A Lehigh Valley with the Phillies organization. Kennedy will serve as infield depth and take the recently suspended Jose Rodriguez’ spot on the 40-man roster.

It’s a tad surprising the Tigers were able to sneak Kennedy through waivers, but he’ll presumably head back to Triple-A Toledo to wait for another opportunity at the highest level. The 25-year-old infielder has morphed into a modern-era Quad-A hitter over the last few years, putting up stellar on-base numbers at the Triple-A level, while struggling to produce at the highest level in several opportunities.

The move opens up a spot for Justyn-Henry Malloy on the 40-man roster. If Kennedy, who went 2-for-10 with a homer in an April stint with the Tigers, is again claimed on waivers, it’d be the fourth time that’s happened since last September.
