Diamondbacks transferred RHP Bryce Jarvis to the 60-day injured list.
Jarvis will be out for the rest of the season due to a right elbow sprain. The 26-year-old righty was a key component of Arizona’s pitching staff in the first half, but there wasn’t really a spot for him anymore following their avalanche of midseason additions.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #40
Diamondbacks placed RHP Bryce Jarvis on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 31, with a right elbow sprain.
It’s a tough break for the Diamondbacks as Jarvis has been a key cog out of their bullpen this season — posting a 3.19 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 38/33 K/BB ratio over 59 1/3 innings. No word yet on how long he’s expected to be sidelined for. Humberto Castellanos was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move on Friday to take his place in the D’Backs’ bullpen.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #40
Bryce Jarvis allowed just one hit and no runs over three innings in relief against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Jarvis worked the bulk innings after Jordan Montgomery was scratched Tuesday, and he did his job and then some. He was able to land 25-of-41 pitches for strikes with four strikeouts, and he reminded why this was a first-round pick back in 2020. Jarvis will remain a multi-inning reliever without fantasy significance for the time being, but there is talent in that right arm.
  • ARI Shortstop #82
Jordan Lawlar is on the Diamondbacks’ NLDS roster.
No real surprises here for the Diamondbacks as both Lawlar and veteran Evan Longoria make the roster as reserve infielders along with lefty-masher Emmanuel Rivera. The 21-year-old top prospect hit just .129 (4-for-31) with one steal in 14 games during his time in the majors, but he’ll get some valuable postseason experience moving forward for Arizona. The minor swap of lefty reliever Kyle Nelson in for righty Bryce Jarvis is the only chance from the Diamondbacks’ Wild Card Series roster.
  • ARI First Baseman #26
Pavin Smith is on the Diamondbacks’ Wild Card roster against the Brewers.
Smith actually finished the season in Triple-A after hitting just .188/.317/.325 over 228 plate appearances in the majors this season, but he’ll get the nod over Jace Peterson on the roster. Also of note, Bryce Jarvis is on the roster while Kyle Nelson has been left off.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #97
Bryce Jarvis gave up two runs in 2 2/3 innings in his first big-league start Thursday against the White Sox.
That was enough to get Jarvis saddled with a loss, his first after two wins in nine appearances as a reliever. Jarvis might be available in relief Sunday, if needed. Otherwise, he finishes up with a 3.00 ERA and a far less impressive 9/9 K/BB ratio in 21 innings for the Diamondbacks. He’ll likely return to the Triple-A rotation to open 2024.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #97
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Bryce Jarvis from Triple-A Reno.
The 25-year-old hurler will take the place of the injured Scott McGough (shoulder) in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen. Jarvis impressed in his first stint with the D’Backs this season, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a 7/8 K/BB ratio across 16 innings in his seven appearances. He’ll work in middle relief.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #97
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Bryce Jarvis to Triple-A Reno.
Jarvis has compiled a solid 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 7/8 K/BB ratio across 16 innings (seven appearances) this season in his first taste of the majors.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #97
2020 first-round pick Bryce Jarvis notched his first major league victory after allowing one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief Saturday against the Padres.
Scott McGough opened for the Diamondbacks in the nightcap and pitched 2 1/3 innings. Jarvis took over in the third and wound up with the win after allowing only a Xander Bogaerts homer while getting 11 outs. Jarvis was called up Sunday after posting a 5.26 ERA in 19 starts and six relief appearances between Double- and Triple-A. He’s not to be tried in fantasy leagues, but he might be of some use to the Diamondbacks while throwing three or four innings every four or five days.
  • Starting Pitcher #97
Diamondbacks selected the contract of RHP Bryce Jarvis from Triple-A Reno.
The Diamondbacks have been on a skid since the All-Star break and will shake up their active roster on Sunday. Jarvis is ranked as the Diamondbacks’ 29th prospect according to MLB Pipeline and posted a 5.48 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 88 2/3 innings in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.
