Giants 1B prospect Bryce Eldridge has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
The Giants are calling it a “moderate” strain, which is expected to keep him sidelined until at least mid-July. The 20-year-old slugging prodigy — who is a top-15 range prospect for dynasty purposes — suffered the injury over the weekend while running the bases at Triple-A Sacramento. The timing of the injury certainly throws a wrench in things for San Francisco as he was expected to make it to the big leagues at some point in the second half as the club’s primary first baseman. That possibility is in serious jeopardy now.

Giants 1B prospect Bryce Eldridge went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored for Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.
Eldridge was the primary target for the Red Sox in trade talks surrounding Rafael Devers, but the Giants refused to part with him. The 20-year-old is hitting just 8-for-46 since being called up to Triple-A, but he does have three home runs and 12 RBI in 12 games. He’s the first baseman of the future in San Francisco, which means Devers will likely remain the designated hitter.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #16
Rafael Devers said Tuesday during his introductory press conference with the Giants that he’s willing play defensively wherever they want him to.
Giants manager Bob Melvin said that Devers is at DH and batting third for Tuesday’s series opener against the Guardians at Oracle Park before adding that he’ll begin taking grounders at first base. The 28-year-old formidable slugger was shipped to San Francisco on Sunday night in one of the most shocking early-season trades in recent memory. He’s been one of the best hitters in baseball this season, slashing .272/.401/.504 with 15 homers and 58 RBI through 73 games with the Red Sox. He’ll bat in the heart of San Francisco’s lineup regardless of where he winds up defensively, but it sounds like he’ll get some opportunities at cold corner in the near future before top prospect Bryce Eldridge is ready to ascend to the majors.

Bryce Eldridge had a grand slam and a sac fly Thursday in his second game for Triple-A Sacramento.
The homer left his bat at 109.8 mph. Eldridge has been on base four times and struck out only once in his two games since moving up.

The San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser reports the Giants are promoting 1B/OF prospect Bryce Eldridge to Triple-A Sacramento.
Eldridge is one of the most compelling power-hitting prospects in the fantasy landscape and projects as a potential middle-of-the-order run-producer once he reaches the big leagues. The 20-year-old prodigy missed time at the outset of the season due to a wrist injury, but he hasn’t skipped a beat since returning at Double-A Richmond, hitting .280/.350/.512 with seven homers across 34 games. He blazed through four levels in San Francisco’s system last year to finish on the doorstep of the majors. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him earn a trip to the big leagues at some point in the second half.
  • SF 1st Baseman #88
Giants 1B prospect Bryce Eldridge went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBI on Friday for Double-A Richmond.
Eldridge has gone deep in back-to-back games and is now up to five round-trippers in just 20 games this season at the Double-A level. The 20-year-old slugger’s massive frame hasn’t resulted in astronomical strikeout totals and he’s hitting .306/.383/.583 this season for Double-A Richmond after missing time at the outset of the year with a wrist injury. He figures to be a potential late-season call-up option for the Giants in a few months. He’s one of the most promising power-hitting prospects for dynasty purposes and could reach the big leagues in the second half.
  • SF 1st Baseman #88
Bryce Eldridge has joined Double-A Richmond after missing the start of the season with a wrist injury.
Eldridge, one of the game’s best offensive prospects, could help the Giants later this season. He spent most of last year in A-ball, but he did get into nine games in Double-A and eight in Triple-A at the end of the season. Overall, he hit .291/.374/.516 with 23 homers in 116 games.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Bryce Eldridge has been scratched from Saturday’s spring breakout contest due to left hand soreness.
It’s a tough break for fantasy managers looking forward to seeing arguably the most exciting young power prospect in baseball on a big-time stage. The 20-year-old slugger, who checked in as the 12th-ranked prospect (74th overall) in Rotoworld’s latest dynasty rankings update, will open the regular season in the upper minors. He has a chance to reach the big leagues by the end of the year after posting an .890 OPS with 23 homers in 116 games last year across four minor-league levels to finish at Triple-A Sacramento.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Giants reassigned INF Bryce Eldridge to minor league camp.
Eldridge was never likely to make the roster despite being the top prospect in the San Francisco system. The 20-year-old will open the year in Triple-A, and assuming he handles PCL pitching well, he has a great chance to help the Giants — and fantasy managers — by the end of 2025.
  • SF 1st Baseman
Bryce Eldridge hit a 450-foot homer in the ninth inning of the Giants’ 6-1 takedown of the Rangers on Saturday.
It was a two-run blast for Eldridge, who struck out in his other at-bat. The 20-year-old top prospect has no real shot at winning a spot out of camp, but the team could get aggressive with him if he starts off well in the upper minors. He hit .289/.372/.513 last season to finish in Triple-A, though 99 of his 117 games played were in Single-A.
