Bryan Woo struggled in Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Astros, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits over his six innings of work.
The All-Star right-hander punched out six batters on the day while issuing only one base on balls. He kept the Astros off the board completely through the first four innings, but they got to him for three runs in the fifth including a two-run double off the bat of Cam Smith. Woo then served up a pair of solo homers to Christian Walker and Taylor Trammell in the sixth. He got 15 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 2.91 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 115/22 K/BB ratio (120 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Angels in Los Angeles.

Brian Woo had a no-hitter through seven before giving up two runs in the eighth in a no-decision Thursday against the Yankees.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. broke up the no-hitter with a single through the infield. That was followed by another single and a sac fly, at which point Woo was lifted. Matt Brash took over and went on to give up a two-run homer, adding a second run to Woo’s total. Woo finished the night with five strikeouts and two walks. He’s bringing an 8-4 record and a 2.75 ERA with him to the All-Star game.

Bryan Woo twirled six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts to earn the win over the Pirates on Friday.
Woo just goes out there every fifth day and dominates. He had to work through a few long innings that drove his pitch count up and he struggled to get strike one on too many hitters, but this was another tremendous start. Despite falling behind a bit more often than usual, he had the confidence to go to both his slider and sweeper more often than usual. Those two pitches forced seven of his 12 total swings-and-misses and the slider was especially strong against left-handed batters. He’s scheduled for a fun start at Yankee Stadium next week before what’s hopefully his first All-Star game appearance soon thereafter.

Mariners recalled RHP Logan Evans from Triple-A Tacoma.
The 24-year-old hurler will hop into the Mariners’ rotation on Thursday evening against the Royals. Evans has done a nice job in seven starts for the M’s this season, registering a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. The rest of the team’s rotation will be pushed back a day, with Bryan Woo starting Friday’s series opener against the Pirates.

The Mariners will call up Logan Evans to start Thursday against the Royals.
Bryan Woo and the rest of the rotation will be pushed back a day, so it’ll be Woo, Luis Castillo and George Kirby facing the Pirates this weekend. It should just be a spot start for Evans, who could be sent right back down after the game.

Bryan Woo allowed two runs (none earned) in six innings and got a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.
Woo gave up five hits, walked two and struck out nine. It was his second consecutive start with nine strikeouts. Josh Smith reached on an error with two outs in the third inning, which accounted for the two runs that scored on Corey Seager’s home run being unearned. Woo has a 2.93 ERA and 96/17 K/BB in 101 1/3 innings this year. A must-start option, he’s lined up to face the Royals at home next week.

Bryan Woo struck out nine while allowing two runs in six innings to get a win Monday over the Twins.
Both runs allowed by Woo came in the sixth inning on back-to-back homers. Prior to that, the 25-year-old was outstanding, and tied his career high with the nine punchouts. That’s now 15 straight starts that Woo has worked at least six innings, and he’s forged a 3.12 ERA and 87/15 K/BB ratio over his 95 1/3 frames. Pretty good. Woo will get the Rangers in Texas on Saturday.
