The Padres have shut Bryan Hoeing down due to discomfort in his right elbow.
For the second straight season, it appears that Hoeing will open the season on the injured list. The Padres are optimistic it isn’t a serious injury, but it makes sense that they’ll take the necessary precautions. Once healthy, Hoeing should work in the middle innings for the San Diego bullpen.

Padres optioned RHP Bryan Hoeing to Triple-A El Paso.
Hoeing returns to the minors after compiling a solid 3.38 ERA across eight innings (seven appearances) for San Diego since returning from the injured list back in late June. The 28-year-old righty figures to return at some point in August.

Padres activated RHP Bryan Hoeing from the 60-day injured list.
Hoeing will make his 2025 debut whenever the Padres use him, as he has missed all of the campaign with a right shoulder injury. The 28-year-old should be a middle-inning option for San Diego now that he’s healthy enough to operate in such a role.

Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) gave up two runs and four hits in an inning for Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.
It was the sixth rehab appearance for Hoeing, who has been on the IL since the beginning of the year with a shoulder strain. The Padres could add him to their pen next week, but since he has two option years left, they do have flexibility if they want to send him down.

Padres transferred RHP Bryan Hoeing to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move frees up a spot on San Diego’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty has been out since spring training recovering from a shoulder strain.

Padres placed RHP Bryan Hoeing on the 15-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
Hoeing remains without a return timetable after being shut down last month with shoulder soreness.

The San Diego Union Tribune’s Kevin Acee reports Bryan Hoeing has yet to pitch this spring due to shoulder soreness.
The Padres claim they are simply bringing the 28-year-old hurler along cautiously and they still think that he’ll be ready to open the regular season as the long man in their bullpen. While the idea sounds good in theory, if he doesn’t get on a mound soon, he simply won’t have enough time to build up in order to make that happen.

Bryan Hoeing was traded from the Marlins to the Padres in a six-player deal.
The 27-year-old Hoeing didn’t do much in a pair of recent starts for the Marlins, but he has been effective out of the pen, posting a 1.50 ERA with a 20/7 K/BB in 24 innings. A rather fringy arm, he could well be optioned to the minors to serve as insurance for San Diego.

Bryan Hoeing allowed four earned runs on eight hits over three innings in Wednesday’s loss to the Astros.
Hoeing faced a relentless Astros lineup that tallied two hits and four earned runs on him through his first two innings of work. The Astros sent eight batters to the plate in a four-run second inning that featured two extra-base hits, which included a two-run homer by right fielder Joey Loperfido. Hoeing would make it through the third inning unscathed, but it was a rough outing for the reliever, who made the spot start for the Marlins on Wednesday. He should return to his normal role moving forward.

Marlins activated RHP Bryan Hoeing from the 15-day injured list.
Hoeing will jump right back into the fire on Friday night, drawing a start in the Marlins’ series opener against the White Sox in Miami. Prior to landing on the injured list with a left hamstring strain, the 27-year-old hurler had registered a 1.83 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 16/5 K/BB ratio over 19 2/3 innings in his 11 appearances. He shouldn’t be expected to work more than an inning or two on Friday and isn’t a recommended streaming option.
