Mets transferred LHP Brooks Raley from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Raley is off the 40-man roster. It’s a procedural move as the 35-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery at the end of May, and he’s unlikely to pitch again until late in 2025.

Brooks Raley underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday.
Raley also had an internal brace procedure performed on his left elbow as well. He’s presumably thrown his final pitch with the Mets as he’s slated to become a free agent this offseason. The 35-year-old lefty is likely to miss the vast majority of the 2025 season.

Brooks Raley will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
Raley has been on the shelf since spring training due to ligament damage and bone spurs in his left elbow, which will wind up requiring surgery. The 35-year-old southpaw will likely be out until at least the late stages of the 2025 campaign, so it’s fair to wonder whether he’ll make it back at this advanced stage of his career. It’s a big loss for the Mets as Raley was one of their more reliable left-handed relief options.

Brooks Raley (elbow) will visit Dr. Keith Meister next week to undergo further evaluation.
Not great. Raley told reporters Saturday that he’s dealing with potential ligament damage and bone spurs in his left elbow. He added that all options are on the table when he visits the renowned orthopedic surgeron, including either Tommy John or internal brace surgeries. However, he could also wind up going the rest and rehabilitation route. There should be some clarity on his status at some point next week, but he’s facing a lengthy absence regardless of whatever path is ultimately decided upon.

Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Sunday that Brooks Raley’s (elbow) MRI revealed no structural damage.
The Mets are hopeful that he’ll require only a minimum stint on the injured list. The 35-year-old southpaw has been a key cog in the team’s bullpen this season, firing seven shutout innings with a 0.71 WHIP and a 9/3 K/BB ratio.

Mets placed LHP Brooks Raley on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation.
No word yet on how long the 35-year-old may be sidelined for, but you never want to hear about any pitchers dealing with elbow problems. Grant Hartwig was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move to take his place in the Mets’ bullpen.

Jorge López allowed one run in the ninth inning on Monday against the Braves to collect his first save of the season.
López was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning with elite closer Edwin Díaz and setup specialists Adam Ottavino and Brooks Raley unavailable after pitching three of the last four days. He got off to a rocky start by surrendering a leadoff double to Matt Olson, and a one-out RBI single to Michael Harris II, but managed to retire Orlando Arcia and Travis d’Arnaud to preserve the victory.

Mets exercised their $6.5 million club option on LHP Brooks Raley for 2024.
It was an easy call for new president of baseball operations David Stearns, as the southpaw was a useful bullpen cog in his first season in Queens, posting a 2.88 ERA across 60 appearances. He should once again serve in a set-up role next season in front of a (hopefully) healthy Edwin Díaz.

Trevor Gott allowed two runs in the ninth inning on Monday in a blown save against the Rangers.
Gott received the call to protect a one-run margin in the final frame with Adam Ottavino unavailable after working back-to-back games over the weekend and Brooks Raley pitching the eighth inning. He immediately found himself in hot water after a leadoff single by Jonah Heim and a double from ensuing batter Ezequiel Duran. He struck out Leody Taveras and Marcus Semien before intentionally walking Corey Seager to load the bases with two outs in the frame. He had a chance to escape with the save, but Nathaniel Lowe came through with a go-ahead two-run single to saddle him with a blown save.

Mets’ manager Buck Showalter confirmed Friday that they’ll utilize a closer-by-committee approach now that David Robertson has been dealt to the Marlins.
To be fair, that’s how they’ve rolled for most of the season — even with Robertson in the fold — so it’s no surprise. Adam Ottavino and Brooks Raley would seem to be the most likely candidates to accrue saves there, but Showalter told reporters on Friday that “you might be surprised who might emerge.”
