  • CIN Relief Pitcher #31
Brent Suter allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Astros to record his first save of the year.
Suter came on to record the final out of the sixth inning with Cincinnati leading by more than a touchdown at the time, and needed just 45 pitches (33 strikes) to go the distance over the final three frames to record a rare multi-inning save. He struck out six and didn’t hand out a free pass, sparing the Reds from having to dip into their bullpen in a one-sided affair.

Reds activated LHP Brent Suter off the 10-day injured list.
Suter is back for the final month after missing a little over six weeks with his shoulder sprain. The southpaw will be a multi-inning option for the Reds down the stretch.

Brent Suter (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Louisville.
Suter will only require a handful of minor league outings before returning to Cincinnati’s bullpen after hitting the injured list back in late July with a partial tear of the teres major muscle in his left shoulder.

Reds placed LHP Brent Suter on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder strain.
Suter has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the teres major muscle in his left shoulder, which is typically an injury that requires months, not weeks, to recover from. Nothing official yet, but it wouldn’t be shocking if his season was over. The 34-year-old southpaw, who suffered the injury during Friday’s second-half opener against the Nationals, boasts a strong 3.68 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41/10 K/BB ratio across 51 1/3 innings (38 appearances, three starts).

Brent Suter was removed from Friday’s appearance against the Nationals due to tightness in his left shoulder.
No word yet on the severity of the injury, as the 34-year-old southpaw is still being evaluated. Expect the Reds to give an update on his status before Saturday’s game — as well as perhaps making a roster move to replace him in the bullpen if he requires a trip to the injured list.

Brent Suter was pulled from Friday’s outing against the Nationals due to an apparent injury.
Suter had thrown just seven pitches (five strikes) while recording two outs before suffering the injury and being replaced by Buck Farmer. Stay tuned, as the Reds should have an update on the 34-year-old hurler’s status shortly.

The Reds will have Brent Suter start Tuesday’s game against the Guardians.
Suter is capable of gong three innings if needed, but his two previous starts this year both saw him face just three batters before exiting after two-thirds of an inning. Nick Martinez will likely pitch multiple innings behind Suter.

After taking over for an injured Frankie Montas, Brent Suter pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday in the Reds’ 3-0 shutout of the Angels.
It’s hardly fair that Suter had to settle for $3 million over the winter after the season he had in Colorado last year. He’s at it again for the Reds now, having worked 12 1/3 scoreless innings in his last five appearances. He has a 3.11 ERA in 275 innings since returning from Tommy John surgery in 2019.

Reds signed LHP Brent Suter to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with a $3.5 million club option for 2025.
The deal, which was also includes a $500,000 buyout and an additional $200,000 in performance-related incentives, is now official. Suter joins Cincinnati’s high-leverage mix as an experienced late-inning bridge to hard-throwing stopper Alexis Díaz after finishing last year with a solid 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 55/25 K/BB ratio across 69 1/3 innings (57 appearances) for the Rockies. The 34-year-old southpaw generated interest from teams this offseason as a potential starter, but will wind up pitching in relief for the upstart Reds.

FanSided’s Robert Murray reports the Reds are signing free agent left-hander Brent Suter to a one year, $2.5 million contract.
Murray reports that the deal is pending a physical and would also include a $3.5 million club option and $500,000 buyout for 2025. The signing is interesting because reports had just surfaced that teams were considering Suter as a starter; however, given that the Reds also signed Frankie Montas and Nick Martinez this offseason, they don’t seem to need Suter as a starter. In 2023, Suter registered a 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 55/25 K/BB ratio over 69 1/3 innings in his lone season with the Rockies and could be a valuable asset for the Reds out of their bullpen.
