Phillies agreed to terms with OF Brandon Marsh on a one-year, $5.2 million contract.
Marsh gets a $2.2 million raise in his second year of arbitration. The 28-year-old hit .280/.342/.443 in 133 games last season, but he again struggled in his limited opportunities against lefties. He doesn’t offer much mixed-league value as a platoon player hitting in the bottom half of the Phillies lineup.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff for Saturday’s NLDS Game 1 matchup against the Dodgers.
Turner returns as Philadelphia’s top-of-the-order table-setter to kick off the postseason after missing a significant portion of September recovering from a hamstring strain. The 32-year-old power/speed combo fantasy star played five innings during last Sunday’s regular-season finale. Here’s the full lineup that will square off against Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani in his first career postseason start at Citizens Bank Park: Turner (SS), Kyle Schwarber (DH), Bryce Harper (1B), Alec Bohm (3B), Brandon Marsh (LF), J.T. Realmuto (C), Max Kepler (RF), Harrison Bader (CF) and Bryson Stott (2B).

Brandon Marsh went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Marsh came through for the Phillies in a big spot on Tuesday. After the Phillies were held without a hit through five frames, the team put two runs on the board on four hits before Marsh gave them the lead with a three-run blast off Justin Wrobleski. The 27-year-old outfielder is up to 11 homers, 56 runs scored, and 42 RBI while slashing .281/.342/.449 across 399 plate appearances.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh is starting in left field and batting eighth against Mets left-hander David Peterson on Thursday.
An apparent reward for opening the month 13-for-24. It’s Marsh’s first start against a lefty since Harrison Bader was acquired and just his eighth of the season. He’s being picked over Bryson Stott, with Weston Wilson playing second base rather than left field.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh (illness) is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Mets.
Marsh missed the previous two games with illness, but the 27-year-old is ready to roll against the Clay Holmes and the Mets’ bullpen.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh (illness) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Mets.
Marsh is likely available off the bench to enter the contest once Mets southpaw Sean Manaea is done. The 27-year-old outfielder sat out Monday’s series opener due to illness.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh is out of the lineup for Monday’s game against the Mets due to illness.
This certainly explains why Nick Castellanos is getting the nod to face Mets rookie right-hander Nolan McLean. Marsh should return to Philadelphia’s lineup at some point this week once he’s feeling better.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh is out of the Phillies lineup on Monday, opening up a spot for Nick Castellanos.
Unless Marsh is hurting, this seems like madness. The Phillies are facing a righty tonight, and Marsh just went 6-for-15 with a homer and three doubles in the series against the Marlins. He’s batting .485 with two homers in his last nine games.

Brandon Marsh went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI against the Marlins on Sunday.
Marsh stayed hot with a three-hit game Sunday after hitting a home run on Sunday. The 27-year-old outfielder has a hit in seven of his last eight games. Marsh is hitting .282 with a .778 OPS and 34 RBI this year.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh went 1-for-4 and swatted a solo home run as the Phillies fell to the Braves on Sunday evening in Philadelphia.
Marsh got the Phillies on the board first with his 372-foot (98.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Hurston Waldrep in the fourth inning. That would wind up being the Phillies’ only run in the ballgame. Marsh has picked up the pace offensively over the past month and is now slashing a respectable .267/.329/.408 with eight homers and 30 RBI in 350 plate appearances on the season.
