  • FA First Baseman #16
Brandon Dixon announced his retirement Thursday from professional baseball.
Dixon made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, wrapping up a five-year big-league career that included stint with the Reds, Tigers and Padres. The 32-year-old also spent one season overseas in Japan with the Rakuten Golden Eagles. He got into 33 games this past season for San Diego.
  • SD First Baseman #16
Padres sent INF/OF Brandon Dixon outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Dixon was designated for assignment during the flurry of acquisitions the Padres made at the trade deadline. The 31-year-old passed through waivers unclaimed and will stick around at the Triple-A level. He hit .203/.244/.329 with two homers across 86 plate appearances with the Padres this season.
  • SD First Baseman #16
Padres designated INF/OF Brandon Dixon for assignment.
The Padres needed to free up some room on the 40-man roster after Tuesday’s deadline moves and Dixon was apparently considered the odd-man out. The 31-year-old has hit just .203/.244/.329 with two homers and nine RBI in 86 plate appearances with the Padres this season.
  • SD First Baseman #16
Padres optioned INF/OF Brandon Dixon to Triple-A El Paso.
The Padres have begun turning over their roster ahead of the trade deadline in a couple weeks with Dixon heading to the minors to open up an active roster spot.
  • SD Outfielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Sunday’s finale against the Phillies.
Tatis Jr. was lifted in the fifth inning in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader after twisting his ankle. It is the first game since Tatis Jr. returned from his PED suspension on April 20. Fantasy managers should consider the 24-year-old superstar day-to-day with the injury. Brandon Dixon will patrol right field and bat eigth in his absence.
  • SD Second Baseman #9
Jake Cronenworth is not in the Padres’ lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Pirates.
Cronenworth, who has a lackluster .579 OPS through 23 games since June 1, takes a seat on Tuesday night with veteran southpaw Rich Hill on the mound for the Pirates in this one. It’ll be Brandon Dixon at first base in his place.
  • SD Second Baseman #7
Ha-Seong Kim (knee) is not in Friday’s lineup against the Yankees.
Kim fouled a ball off the inside of his left knee during Thursday’s game, but the good news is that X-rays came back negative. He can be considered day-to-day for now. Jake Cronenworth will start at second base Friday while Brandon Dixon plays first.

  • FA First Baseman #16
Padres recalled INF Brandon Dixon from Triple-A El Paso.
He’ll add depth off of the Padres bench while Manny Machado (hand) is stationed on the injured list. Dixon is in the Padres lineup at first base and batting seventh against James Paxton and the Red Sox on Friday evening in San Diego.

  • FA First Baseman #16
Brandon Dixon will serve as the Padres’ 27th man for the Mexico Series against the Giants.
Dixon gets the call to join the Padres in Mexico this weekend as an extra pinch-hitting option. The 31-year-old outfielder has gotten into 12 games this season for San Diego. He’ll head back to Triple-A El Paso at the conclusion of the weekend.

  • FA First Baseman #16
Padres optioned OF Brandon Dixon to Triple-A El Paso.
Dixon has been jettisoned to the minors to make room for Fernando Tatis Jr. to be activated from the restricted list on Thursday evening to make his highly-anticipated season debut. The 31-year-old corner outfielder has appeared in five games this season for San Diego.
