Giants signed 1B Brady Whalen to a minor league contract.
Whalen is back in the Giants’ system following a 16-game stint with the Lexington Legends of the independent Atlantic League where he crushed four homers and added six steals in just 72 plate appearances. The 26-year-old infielder spent the 2023 campaign at Double-A Richmond and is merely emergency organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Giants reassigned INF’s Donovan Walton, Colton Welker and Brady Whalen, C’s Brett Cumberland and Andy Thomas, LHP’s Darien Núñez, Sean Newcomb and Daniel Tillo, RHP’s Ljay Newsome, Joe Ross and Drew Strotman to minor league camp.
Walton, who is likely to be sidelined until May as he continues his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery, is the most prominent of the Giants’ first round of cuts from spring training. Newcomb and Ross figure to be the most likely to contribute at some point for the Giants.

Giants signed INF Brady Whalen to a minor league contract.
The 24-year-old was a 12th round pick by the Cardinals from the 2016 draft and spent the first six seasons of his minor league career in their organization. He had a terrific season across three minor league levels in 2022 -- slashing .291/.370/.459 with nine homers, 45 RBI and eight stolen bases in 101 games. He’ll add minor league depth for the Giants.
