Dodgers optioned INF/OF Hyeseong Kim and RHP Bobby Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City; reassigned C/OF Dalton Rushing, OF Eddie Rosario, INF Michael Chavis, RHP Giovanny Gallegos and INF David Bote to minor league camp.
Kim will not travel with the club to Japan for next week’s season-opening Tokyo Series against the Cubs. There were rumblings earlier this spring that the 26-year-old might require some time in the minors to continue working on his swing mechanics. The decision leaves Tommy Edman as Los Angeles’ primary second baseman to open the regular season with veterans Miguel Rojas, Chris Taylor and Kiké Hernandez in bench roles. It doesn’t come as a surprise to see Miller heading to Triple-A after he was hit in the face by a line drive earlier this spring and will need some extra time to ramp-up. Rushing is the highest profile prospect included in the Dodgers’ latest batch of cuts. He figures to reach the big leagues at some point this season and will make an impact in deeper mixed leagues.

Bobby Miller (head) is scheduled to face live hitters for the first time on Friday since being struck in the head by a comebacker.
Miller has thrown a couple of bullpen sessions since the injury without any issue, but it will be a different animal getting back in there against a live hitter. If all goes well with Friday’s session he should be cleared to return to Cactus League action. At this point, it sounds like Miller shouldn’t have any trouble being ready for the start of the regular season, there just may not be a spot available in the Dodgers’ rotation for him.

Bobby Miller (head) threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Friday.
Miller told reporters Saturday that he’ll likely throw another bullpen session before returning to Cactus League action. The 25-year-old managed to avoid serious injury after being struck in the head by a comebacker on February 20. He’s a long shot to make the Dodgers’ loaded rotation out of camp, but he figures to be an option at some point in the near future.

Bobby Miller (head) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday.
Miller was able to resume throwing Monday, and now has progressed to throwing off the mound. The right-hander was hit in the head by a comebacker in his spring debut, and the Dodgers have taken things slowly with the 25-year-old. He should be ready for the start of the season, but there’s a good chance he opens 2025 in Triple-A with Oklahoma City.

Bobby Miller (head) is resuming throwing Monday.
Miller is still in the concussion protocol, but obviously the fact that he’s returned to throwing after his scary head injury Thursday is a welcome sign. The 25-year-old could be back on the mound shortly, but the Dodgers are going to take every necessary precaution to make sure he’s at full health.

Bobby Miller told reporters Saturday that he’s still dealing with headaches and drowsiness.
Miller remains in concussion protocol after being struck in the head by a comebacker during Thursday’s Cactus League lid-lifter. There’s no timetable at this juncture for him to resume throwing, but he told reporters that “it could have been a lot worse.” It’s a relief that Miller didn’t suffer any facial fractures, but it could be a while this spring before he’s cleared to get back on the mound.

Bobby Miller did not sustain any fractures after being hit in the head by a comebacker during Thursday’s Cactus League game against the Cubs.
Miller is in the concussion protocol, and is dealing with a headache Friday. The good news is that he appears to have avoided anything significant in terms of a long-term injury, and assuming a ‘normal’ rehabilitation, Miller should be back on the mound relatively soon.

Bobby Miller left Thursday’s game in the third inning after getting hit in the head by a comebacker.
Although it was 105.5 mph off the side/top of his head, Miller never lost consciousness and was able to walk off the field after a couple of minutes. He also didn’t seem to be bleeding anywhere. The liner was hit by his former minor league teammate, Michael Busch, who looked more like he wanted to rush to check on Miller than actually go to first base. Miller was hurt on his 11th pitch in the afternoon. He was looking good at the time, topping out at 99.8 mph with his fastball. The liner was the first ball in play against him.

Dodgers POBO Andrew Friedman says the team will use just five starters initially, since off days will make a six-man rotation unnecessary in April.
Unless someone gets hurt, that probably means Dustin May will open up in the pen and Bobby Miller will go to Triple-A. The team has already indicated that Roki Sasaki will have a spot alongside Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. Tony Gonsolin has to be the favorite for the fifth spot, though he, unlike May, does have an option remaining if the Dodgers want to get creative.

Dodgers optioned RHP Bobby Miller to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The Dodgers decided against giving Miller one last shot following his two-inning start against the Marlins last night. It’s probably for the best. Miller had given up 17 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings this month, taking his ERA up to 8.52. We’re assuming we won’t see him again this season, and it’s going to be hard to recommend him as a sleeper next year before seeing how he throws in March.
