  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Royals on Thursday.
Lively gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. He continues to pitch pretty well, but the Guardians only provided one run in support of his effort. Lively has a 3.03 ERA on the season. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the White Sox at home next week.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed two runs in 5 2/3 innings and got the win in the Guardians’ 6-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Lively gave up three hits, walked two and struck out four. He’s now won five of his last seven starts and has seven wins overall on the season. His ERA is 3.03. Not bad for a waiver wire pickup. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road next weekend.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed four runs in four innings and got the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Lively gave up six hits, walked three and struck out four. He had won his last five starts. Lively had allowed two runs through the first four innings. He was removed after walking Spencer Horwitz and Davis Schneider to begin the fifth inning. Both runners scored on Daulton Varsho’s grand slam off Nick Sandlin. Lively isn’t as good as his 3.02 ERA suggests given his 4.15 xFIP. He’s benefited greatly from an 85 percent left on base percentage and that caught it up with him a little bit on Sunday. He’s still been a really good find off the waiver wire for fantasy managers. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays at home next week.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters Ben Lively (undisclosed) is on track to make his next start.
Lively went back to Cleveland over the weekend to undergo additional testing for an undisclosed injury. The 32-year-old journeyman appears to have checked out fine and will presumably take the ball on Saturday against the Blue Jays.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively didn’t allow a run over five innings to pick up a win over the Marlins on Saturday.
Lively only struck out one, but he was still able to keep the Marlins off the board by allowing only three hits. The only extra-base hit allowed was a double to Vidal Bruján, and outside of that it was smooth sailing for the 32-year-old. Lively now has a 6-2 record and 2.59 ERA, which absolutely everyone was predicting before the season started. The Blue Jays are scheduled for next week.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed two runs with four strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Lively worked through three scoreless innings before the Nationals brought two runs in to score in the fourth. After walking a batter with one out, Tyler Freeman misplayed a routine fly ball to put runners on second and third with one out instead of two outs and a runner on first. A groundout and a base hit would bring the two runs in to score. Lively would work a clean fifth and gave up a base hit with two outs in the sixth. That would end his day at 86 pitches -- 62 for strikes. He struck out four. The 32-year-old right-hander will take a 2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 47/15 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings into a start against the Marlins in Miami on Friday.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Angels on Sunday.
The right-hander struck out five and walked two on the day. There’s nothing exceptional about Lively’s arsenal as he had just seven whiffs on the day for a 16 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. However, he has six pitches that he can go to and he showcases above-average command which allows him to produce in the right matchup and post a 2.80 ERA over eight starts. Aside from a poor start against the Rangers and one average start against the White Sox, Lively has been solid. He’s not a long-term hold, but he can certainly be streamed next week against the Nationals.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed one run over 5 2/3 innings on Monday in a win over the Mets.
Lively’s unexpected hot start continued in this one as he allowed three earned runs or fewer for the seventh consecutive start since making his season debut back on April 17. He matched a season-high with seven strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. A third-inning solo shot by light-hitting backstop Tomás Nido represented the lone tally against him in this one. He’ll bring a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 38/12 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts) into a favorable road matchup on Sunday against the Angels.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed five hits and three earned runs over five innings in Tuesday’s win over the Rangers.
Lively’s three earned runs all came on solo blasts from Adolis Garcia, Corey Seager, and Nathaniel Lowe. While it wasn’t an ideal way to get through an otherwise strong outing, the veteran righty did about as well as one could hope for against a strong Rangers lineup. He ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth inning, loading the bases after a single and two walked batters, but was able to strike out Marcus Semien to end the inning. Lively earned his second win of the season in this outing and will look to pick up his third on Monday against the Mets.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #39
Ben Lively allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the White Sox.
Lively got into trouble right away as Andrew Vaughn, Paul DeJong and Tommy Pham got to him for run-scoring hits in the first two frames, which was more than enough to saddle him with a loss. He struck out two and also issued three walks. The 32-year-old journeyman has been an unexpected bright spot for Cleveland this season, registering a sparkling 2.63 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26/9 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (five starts). He’ll face the defending World Series champion Rangers on Tuesday in his next outing.
