Angels hired Barry Enright as pitching coach.
Enright has worked for the Diamondbacks as a pitching coach for the last three years, most recently spending the last two years as Brent Strom’s assistant pitching coach on the big league staff. The 37-year-old former big leaguer logged parts of two seasons with the Angels from 2012-2013. He’s the newest addition to manager Ron Washington’s coaching staff out in Los Angeles heading into the 2024 campaign.

Barry Enright has officially retired from pitching.
The 32-year-old will now serve as the pitching coach of the Diamondbacks’ Low-A affiliate in Hillsboro, Oregon. Enright logged 148 2/3 innings between the D-backs and Angels in 2010-2013 but hadn’t appeared in the major leagues since. He spent most of the 2018 season pitching in Mexico.

Angels purchased the contract of RHP Barry Enright from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Enright will provide the Angels a bit more bullpen depth over the regular season’s final month. He posted a 2.73 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 52 2/3 innings with Salt Lake.

Angels acquired RHP Barry Enright from the Diamondbacks for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Enright, who posted a 4.87 ERA in 24 starts with the Diamondbacks from 2010-2011, had a 5.87 ERA in 21 starts with Arizona’s Triple-A affiliate this season. The 26-year-old right-hander will serve as organizational depth with Triple-A Reno.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #27
Jered Weaver (shoulder) played catch from 90 feet Saturday with no issues.
“He felt very good, and that’s very encouraging,” said Angels manager Mike Scioscia. The manager added that Weaver could throw again Sunday, but no decision has been made on when he’ll rejoin the rotation. “We want to get him off a mound (before he’s cleared). It’s by touch and feel and see where it goes.” The Halos will start either Jerome Williams or Barry Enright Tuesday against the A’s.

Barry Enright, making a spot start in place of Tommy Hanson, was hit hard in a no-decision against the White Sox on Friday, allowing five runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings.
Enright walked two and struck out two in the game. After allowing a leadoff home run to Alejandro De Aza, he settled in nicely and was staked to a 5-1 lead entering the fourth inning. That’s when the wheels fell off though, and the White Sox struck for four runs to even the score and chase Enright from the game. He’ll now head back to the bullpen and remain irrelevant in most fantasy leagues.

Barry Enright will start for the Angels Friday against the White Sox in place of Tommy Hanson.
Hanson is missing the start following the death of his step-brother. Enright has given up three runs in three relief innings for the Halos and can be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Angels sent RHP Barry Enright outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Enright was designated for assignment last week but has cleared waivers and will stick around for depth purposes.
  • SF Starting Pitcher
Tommy Hanson has been scratched from his start Wednesday against the Royals.
Hanson was placed on the bereavement list Friday following the death of his step-brother and is still on an excused absence. Barry Enright gave up five runs in a spot start on Friday but will get the nod again in Hanson’s place.

Angels designated RHP Barry Enright for assignment.
Enright has really struggled with the big club this season, allowing 12 runs on 12 hits and seven walks over 8 1/3 innings. There’s a chance he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed.
