Padres re-signed LHP Austin Davis to a minor league contract.
Davis was designated for assignment after the trade deadline to make room for the Padres’ new additions. He elected free agency after San Diego sent him outright to Triple-A El Paso and that’s presumably where he’ll report now. Davis had a 9.00 ERA in seven innings with the Padres, but has been solid at Triple-A this year with a 3.10 ERA in 29 innings.

Austin Davis has elected free agency after being sent outright to Triple-A El Paso.
Davis was designated for assignment and went unclaimed, and rather than report to the Pacific Coast League, the left-hander will now be free to explore other options. Regardless of who Davis joins up with, it’ll all but assuredly be on a minor-league contract barring something unforeseeable.

Padres designated LHP Austin Davis for assignment.
The Padres had to make a flurry of roster moves on Wednesday to accommodate all of their additions from the trade deadline and unfortunately Davis was squeezed off of the roster because of it. The 31-year-old hurler has posted a 9.00 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and a 6/5 K/BB ratio over seven innings with the Padres this season. It’s likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to serve as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A El Paso.

Padres selected the contract of LHP Austin Davis from Triple-A El Paso.
Davis, 31, will take the place of the injured Tom Cosgrove (elbow) in the Padres’ bullpen. To clear a spot on the team’s 40-man roster, Joe Musgrove was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Davis had been pitching fairly well at Triple-A El Paso, compiling a 3.10 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 37/16 K/BB ratio across 29 innings of work. He’ll give Padres’ skipper Mike Shildt another weapon to deploy in the middle innings.

The Padres are calling up Austin Davis from Triple-A prior to Friday’s game.
Davis, a five-year vet who last pitched in the majors in 2022, has a 3.10 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 29 innings for El Paso.

Padres signed LHP Austin Davis to a minor league contract.
Davis didn’t pitch in the big leagues last year after making a career-high 52 appearances the previous season between the Red Sox and Twins. The soon-to-be 31-year-old lefty will be in camp this spring with the Padres to compete for a spot in their bullpen as a lefty specialist.

    Astros released LHP Austin Davis.
Davis made a career-high 52 appearances last year between the Red Sox and Twins, but has yet to pitch in the majors this season. The 30-year-old southpaw inked a minor league pact with the Astros last November and has been jettisoned following 20 lackluster relief outings for Triple-A Sugar Land.

Davis elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Twins, and elected free agency after not being claimed in September. Austin Davis has elected free agency.
The lefty reliever was designated for assignment by the Twins earlier in the week and passed through waivers unclaimed. He’s opted to explore the free agent market rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A St. Paul. He’s now free to sign wherever he chooses, but will be ineligible for the postseason.
