Royals re-signed LHP Austin Cox to a minor league contract.
Cox has been with the Royals his entire career and made his MLB debut in 2023, pitching to a 4.54 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 35 2/3 innings. However, he tore his ACL in September of that year and then spent all of last season in the minors. The Royals will hope that he can emerge as an impactful lefty reliever now that he’s another year removed from surgery.

Royals re-signed LHP Austin Cox to a minor league contract.
Cox is back with Kansas City just a few days after opting out of his previous minor league contract with the club. The 27-year-old lefty compiled a serviceable 4.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 33/17 K/BB ratio across 35 2/3 innings (24 appearances, three starts) last year for Kansas City before undergoing surgery in September to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee.

Royals re-signed LHP Austin Cox to a minor league contract.
It’s likely a two-year deal for Cox, who is expected to miss most of, if not all, of the 2024 campaign following September left knee surgery to address a torn ACL and MLC damage as well. The 26-year-old rookie southpaw ended the 2023 season with a serviceable 4.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 33/17 K/BB ratio across 35 2/3 innings (24 appearances, three starts).

    Royals non-tendered LHP Austin Cox.
Cox heads to free agency just a few hours after being designated for assignment following the addition of veteran reliever Nick Anderson. The 26-year-old southpaw is likely to miss the entire 2024 campaign after tearing his ACL back in early September.

Royals designated LHP Austin Cox for assignment.
The move clears a spot for new addition Nick Anderson on the 40-man roster. Insult to injury for Cox, who suffered a full ACL tear and MCL damage in left knee September. The 26-year-old is likely to miss most, if not all, of next season.

Austin Cox will undergo left knee surgery after being diagnosed with a torn ACL.
Cox who also has MCL damage as well, will seek a second opinion, but is expected to require surgery in the near future. The 26-year-old rookie left-hander landed on the injured list earlier this week with a left knee sprain. There’s a strong possibility he’s sidelined until well into the 2024 campaign.

Royals placed LHP Austin Cox on the 60-day injured list with a left knee sprain.
Cox suffered a serious knee injury during Friday’s relief appearance against the Blue Jays and will miss the remainder of the 2023 season. There should be some clarity on his status once he undergoes some additional testing. The 26-year-old southpaw closes out his rookie campaign with a serviceable 4.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 33/17 K/BB ratio across 35 2/3 innings (24 appearances, three starts).

Brought in to protect a one-run lead in the ninth, Austin Cox walked two of the three batters he faced and was pulled Monday against the Mariners.
At least that’s still a better night than Carlos Hernández had. Working the eighth, he let in two inherited runners and then gave up two runs of his own to let most of a 5-0 lead get away. Cox was pulled before he could be changed with a blown save in the ninth, but both runners he left on came around to score off Nick Wittgren. The saves situation is such a mess in Kansas City right now that no one seems like a very good play in shallow leagues.
