Alvarez

Alvarez, 30, saw some action in the big leagues with the Athletics in in 2024, slashing .243/.282/.270 with two RBI and a stolen base in 39 plate appearances. He’ll add infield depth for the Twins.

Adams, 33, had a 3.92 ERA in 41 1/3 innings for the A’s before missing the final quarter of the season with elbow tightness. He’ll probably have to settle for a minor league deal this winter.

Alvarez is being sent down to make room on the active roster for Tyler Soderstrom. He hit .243 with no home runs and two RBI for the Athletics this year.

Alvarez is recalled by the A’s to provide some infield depth and take the roster spot of Abraham Toro after Toro was designated for assignment. The 30-year-old offers no fantasy value even if he does become an everyday option.

Alvarez heads back to the minors with Brent Rooker returning from paternity leave. The unheralded 30-year-old rookie has held his own this season in his first taste of the majors, hitting .276 (8-for-29) with two RBI and one steal in 10 contests.

Alvarez spent three days on the roster last week while Seth Brown was on paternity leave. Now he’s subbing in for Brent Rooker for the same reason.

Alvarez was up with Oakland for a handful of days while Seth Brown was away from the club on paternity leave.

Alvarez is back for a second stint with the A’s after going 6-for-23 this first time around. He’ll probably return to the minors once Seth Brown is back from the paternity list.

Alvarez will head back to the minors following the All-Star break after batting .261 (6-for-23) with one extra-base hit and one steal in seven games for Oakland. The unheralded 30-year-old infielder doesn’t figure to be part of the Athletics’ long-term mix, which is probably why he’s been shipped back to Triple-A at this point in the year.

At age 29, Alvarez is no long-term regular for the A’s, but he might well prove to be an upgrade over Abraham Toro at third base. He had a .929 OPS in Triple-A this year after coming in at .960 for the Giants’ Triple-A club last year and .844 for the Yankees’ Triple-A club in 2022.
