Tigers re-signed INF Argenis Diaz to a minor league contract.
The 29-year-old hit just .241/.287/.310 with three homers for Triple-A Toledo in 2016. He’ll merely organizational depth.

Diamondbacks signed SS Argenis Diaz to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Reno.
Diaz was released by the Reds after batting .245/.291/.313 in 53 games at Triple-A Louisville. The 27-year-old hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2010 and will be nothing more than depth for Arizona.

Tigers signed INF Argenis Diaz to a minor league contract.
Diaz spent the entire 2015 season with the Triple-A affiliate of the Twins, slashing .258/.322/.305 with zero home runs in 92 games. The 28-year-old hasn’t appeared in a game at the major league level since 2010.

Argenis Diaz had a fourth straight three-hit game Saturday for Honolulu of the Hawaiian Winter League.
He has 16 hits in his last six games. Yesterday’s performance included a triple. Overall, the 20-year-old is hitting .459/.474/.595 in 37 at-bats. It looked like he might repeat the Sally League next year after batting .279/.342/.380 there this year, but if he keeps this up, he should earn a promotion to high-A ball.

Argenis Diaz is batting .444 in the Hawaiian Winter League after collecting three more hits on Sunday.
Diaz has 12 hits in his last six games and 32 overall in 72 at-bats. He’s fanned just eight times after doing so 92 times in 99 games in the Sally League last season. The strong winter should guarantee that he’s promoted to Single-A Lancaster to begin next year, and as great as that ballpark is for offense, he probably won’t be a sleeper prospect for much longer.

Pirates acquired SS Argenis Diaz and RHP Hunter Strickland from the Red Sox for first baseman Adam LaRoche.
Diaz, 22, boasts a slick glove but has struggled at the plate on all levels. He was hitting just .253/.309/.310 in 76 games this season at Double-A Portland and posted a .284/.332/.382 batting line in 110 games between Single-A and Double-A last year. His fielding ability can get him to the big leagues, but his bat may keep him from ever becoming a starter.

Twins signed INF Argenis Diaz to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old infielder bounced around during the 2014 season, slashing .267/.319/.336 across 111 minor league games over three teams between the Reds and Diamondbacks organizations. He’s nothing more than additional infield depth for the Twins.

Pirates recalled INF Argenis Diaz from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Bobby Crosby and Andy LaRoche are hurting right now, so the move affords Pirates manager John Russell with another infielder, at least for now. Diaz, 23, was acquired from the Red Sox in the Adam LaRoche trade last July. He has a .267/.330/.343 batting line over parts of six seasons in the minors and is generally known for his glove.

Pirates optioned infielder Argenis Diaz to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Diaz went hitless in two at-bats in his two days in the majors.

    Pirates non-tendered SS Argenis Diaz.
An easy call for the Pirates. Diaz is a slick infielder, but he posted an ugly .248 batting average and .285 on-base percentage at the Triple-A level this year. He’s only 23, though, and should draw interest.
