  • COL Relief Pitcher #57
Angel Chivilli pitched around trouble to earn his first career save in a 3-1 win over the Nationals.
Before the game started, Rockies manager Bud Black confirmed that normal closer Victor Vodnik was experiencing soreness in his shoulder and was shut down in his warmups. That led to Chivilli getting the save opportunity despite recording just one save in the minor leagues this season. After striking out James Wood, Chivilli allowed a walk and a single before pitching himself out of trouble. The 22-year-old figures to remain in the late-inning mix if Vodnik were to miss time, but Chivilli has a 4.70 ERA on the season, so he’s not a must add in any fantasy format.

Chivilli has been up-and-down this season for Colorado as extra relief depth, making five relief appearances in the big leagues. He’s been brought back to replace Jalen Beeks in the Rockies’ bullpen.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #57
Rockies optioned Angel Chivilli to Double-A Hartford.
You don’t see many pitcher go back-and-forth between Double-A and the majors multiple times, but the Rockies seem committed to not have Chvilli pitch in Triple-A. The 21-year-old could be back as bullpen depth before the end of 2024.

  • COL Relief Pitcher
Rockies optioned RHP Angel Chivilli to Double-A Hartford.
Chivilli has gotten the call to the majors a couple of times by virtue of already being on the Rockies’ 40-man, but he’s not ready just yet. He allowed five runs over 5 1/3 innings in his two weeks with the team.
  • COL Relief Pitcher
Rockies recalled RHP Angel Chivilli from Double-A Hartford.
Chivilli was briefly up last month, but he didn’t get to make his major league debut then. It’ll probably happen this time. The 21-year-old had a 2.50 ERA and a 29/11 K/BB ratio in 18 innings of relief work for Hartford.

  • COL Relief Pitcher
Rockies recalled RHP Angel Chivilli from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Chivilli joins Colorado’s bullpen ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Pirates with Justin Lawrence away from the club on paternity leave. The 21-year-old righty was added to the Rockies’ 40-man roster during the offseason and has excelled this season in six relief appearances for Double-A Hartford.
  • COL Shortstop #91
Rockies optioned INF Adael Amador, OF Yanquiel Fernandez, and RHPs Angel Chivilli and Juan Mejia to Double-A Hartford; optioned RHP Noah Davis to Triple-A Albuquerque; reassigned RHPs Karl Kauffmann, Jeff Criswell, Chance Adams, OF Zac Veen and INF Sterlin Thompson to minor league camp.
Amador blossomed last year into one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape from a dynasty standpoint as his contact skills put him on the potential fast track to the majors as he enters his age-21 season. Fernandez, Veen and Thompson also have a great deal of fantasy potential, if they ascend to the big leagues in Colorado down the line.
  • COL Relief Pitcher
