Tigers reassigned INF Keston Hiura, RHP Trey Wingenter, LHP Andrew Vasquez, C Anthony Bemboom and OFs Bligh Madris and Ryan Vilade to minor league camp.
Huira finished spring camp going 10-for-31 (.323 AVG) with two home runs and nine RBI — one of those home runs was a grand slam against Toronto. The 27-year-old infielder finished with an impressive .966 OPS during the spring, but the Tigers’ infield depth, Huira will likely spend the majority of his 2024 campaign in the minors.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #37
Tigers re-signed LHP Andrew Vasquez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Vasquez is back in the fold to bolster Detroit’s relief depth heading into 2024. The 30-year-old lefty made 43 relief appearances last year between the Phillies and Tigers, compiling a serviceable 3.35 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 43/23 K/BB ratio across 48 1/3 innings of work.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #37
Tigers sent LHP Andrew Vasquez outright to Triple-A Toledo.
The 30-year-old left-hander made just 12 appearances for the Tigers in 2023, posting a miserable 8.31 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and a 9/9 K/BB ratio across 8 2/3 frames. He’ll continue to function as extra bullpen depth at the Triple-A level.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #37
Tigers activated LHP Andrew Vasquez from the 15-day injured list.
Vasquez ended up missing a month due to left calf tightness. He’s struggled with a 12.00 ERA in 12 relief appearances with Detroit after being claimed off waivers from the Phillies in August, so he’d surely like to put up a zero this weekend.

Andrew Vasquez (calf) tossed a scoreless inning during Thursday’s Triple-A rehab appearance.
Vasquez hit the 15-day IL in late August, due to calf tightness. The soon-to-be, 30-year-old made his first rehab appearance since the injury and looked sharp out of the bullpen. Vasquez entered the game in the fifth inning and mowed down three batters, striking out one of the three. He needed just 12 pitches to get the job done. He posted a 2.27 ERA in 30 relief appearances for the Phillies before getting claimed off waivers by the Tigers in early August (12.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Tigers).
  • DET Relief Pitcher #37
Tigers placed LHP Andrew Vasquez on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 28, with left calf tightness.
Vasquez was claimed off waivers earlier this month from the Phillies and has made 10 relief appearances for the Tigers since. He’s likely to wind up missing at least a few weeks.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #37
Tigers claimed LHP Andrew Vasquez off waivers from the Phillies.
Vasquez was designated for assignment in the wake of the Michael Lorenzen acquisition. The 29-year-old put up a 2.27 ERA over 30 relief appearances and makes for respectable bullpen depth as the Tigers play out the string.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #37
Phillies designated LHP Andrew Vasquez for assignment.
Vasquez has been removed from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster to make room for recent trade acquisition Michael Lorenzen to join the active roster. The 29-year-old southpaw has posted a solid 2.27 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 34/14 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings (30 appearances) this season. He should attract some interest on waivers.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #65

Vasquez, 29 has a 7.04 ERA in 22 appearances over his time in the San Francisco system.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #65
Giants selected the contract of LHP Andrew Vasquez from Triple-A Sacramento.
Vasquez was removed from the Giants’ 40-man roster last month but has found his way back on. He’ll give the club a fresh arm in the final days of the season.
