Cubs recalled OF Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa.
Canario will replace an injured Cody Bellinger (finger) on Chicago’s active roster moving forward. The 24-year-old outfielder, who has gotten into 19 contests for the Cubs over the last two years, holds an .832 OPS with 16 homers this season in 59 games for Triple-A Iowa.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reports that Cubs OF Alexander Canario is en route to Baltimore on Thursday, which could mean Cody Bellinger (finger) is going on the IL.
Bellinger left Wednesday’s game after being getting hit on the finger by a pitch and Canario’s presence in Baltimore might mean the veteran OF is headed to the IL with the All-Star break looming. Even though Bellinger isn’t having a huge season, a trip to the IL could complicate his potential trade value. Canario is hitting just .238 at Triple-A, but he also has 16 home runs and 43 RBI in 59 games and could provide some thump if given a chance.

Alexander Canario crushed his first major league home run on Saturday night, helping to power the Cubs to a 5-3 victory over the Marlins in the nightcap of their doubleheader.
The 23-year-old phenom clobbered a 416-foot (109.2 mph EV) solo shot off of Roddery Muñoz to begin the sixth inning, pulling the Cubs to within a run at 3-2. He also drew a walk in the ballgame, finishing the night 1-for-2. He has done a nice job so far while filling in for the injured Seiya Suzuki, going 3-for-9 (.333) with a homer and two RBI. He could be worth a look as a deep league streaming option for as long as Suzuki is shelved.

Cubs recalled OF Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa.
Canario is officially up after Seiya Suzuki was placed on the injured list with an oblique strain. Canario has slashed .269/.377/.481 thus far in Triple-A with a pair of homers, and he’s considered one of the better hitting prospects in the Chicago system. He’s worth a speculation addition for those who need outfield help, as he should get a decent amount of playing time while Suzuki recoers.

According to ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, the Cubs are calling up outfield prospect Alexander Canario
There is not yet a reported corresponding move. It’s possible that Canario could just be taking the place of Mike Tauchman on the roster, but Christopher Morel also appeared to hurt his finger in this weekend’s series against the Mariners and was unable to get a hit, so it’s possible he will need some time on the IL. Canario has slashed .269/.377/.481 with 2 HR and 123 wRC+ in 13 games so far at Triple-A this season.

Cubs optioned OF Alexander Canario to Triple-A Iowa.
Canario was optioned to the minors earlier this week. The 23-year-old prospect stuck around until the end of camp competing for a bench spot with the Cubs, but will get some extra seasoning back in the upper minors instead.

Alexander Canario singled, walked twice and scored three times off the bench Friday against the White Sox.
Canario had a shot at a bench spot in Chicago before the Cody Bellinger re-signing probably took that away. Another year in Triple-A won’t hurt anyway. If Canario can cut down on the missed swings some, he might turn into a regular outfielder, just probably not with the Cubs.

Cubs OF Alexander Canario reached base four times in Dominican Winter League action on Wednesday.
Canario had three hits, including two doubles, and also drew a walk. He’s now slashing .389/.478/.556. so far. The 23-year-old earned a big-league promotion in September after slashing .276/.342/.524 with eight home runs over 36 games in Triple-A after coming back from a pair of surgeries (ankle, shoulder) late last year. While he didn’t see meaningful at-bats in Chicago over the final month, there’s a strong chance he opens the 2024 season as a regular in the Cubs’ outfield.
