Mariners signed RHP Alex Valverde to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old hurler was cut loose by the Mets after he registered a 7.56 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and a 25/19 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings in 10 appearances (nine starts) at Triple-A Syracuse. He’ll add pitching depth in the upper minors for the M’s.
