Astros RHP Alex Santos didn’t allow a hit over four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts for Low-A Fayetteville on Thursday.
Santos, 20, issued just one walk in the contest. After being lit up for six runs in his season debut, he hasn’t given up a run in the last two affairs, and he’s fanned 14 against two walks in his 7 1/3 innings. Santos has some of the highest upside of any arm in the Houston system, and the 72nd pick of the 2020 draft is slowly but surely beginning to tap into that promise. His fastball and curveball both have a chance to miss bats, and there’s an occasional average change for good measure. Fantasy managers won’t see Santos for at least a couple of years, but if he continues to show improvement, he has a chance to be worth the wait in deeper dynasty leagues.
