The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya reports the Dodgers are expected to decline their $3 million club option on RHP Alex Reyes for 2024.
Reyes will receive a $100,000 buyout and become a free agent. The Dodgers rolled the dice on the 29-year-old former All-Star closer as a reclamation project last offseason with the hope that he could contribute sometime around midseason. Unfortunately, that never happened. Reyes underwent season-ending right shoulder surgery in early June and never ended up pitching for Los Angeles. He isn’t expected to be ready to contribute until the midway point of the 2024 season and hasn’t appeared on a big league mound since the 2021 campaign.

Alex Reyes underwent season-ending right shoulder surgery.
Reyes inked a one-year, $1.1 million contract back in mid-February, and at the time, it looked like a great gamble by the Dodgers. Unfortunately, it won’t pan out. The 28-year-old former All-Star closer had surgery to repair a torn labrum last May and hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2021 campaign. After ramping up earlier this spring, he felt renewed soreness, and more damage was found in a different area, which led to another surgical procedure.

Dodgers transferred RHP Alex Reyes from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster for Austin Wynns to join the team. Reyes isn’t expected to be an option for the Dodgers’ bullpen until sometime around midseason as he continues his rehabilitation process from a frayed labrum in his right shoulder that caused him to miss all of last year.

Dodgers placed RHP Alex Reyes on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder injury.
Reyes isn’t expected to be an option for the Dodgers’ bullpen until sometime around midseason as he continues his rehabilitation process from a frayed labrum in his right shoulder that caused him to miss all of last year. He still hasn’t progressed to throwing off a mound yet and appears to be a few months away from making his Los Angeles debut.

Alex Reyes (shoulder) isn’t scheduled to begin throwing off a mound until late March.
Reyes will open the regular season on the 60-day injured list and likely won’t be an option for the Dodgers until sometime around midseason as he continues his rehabilitation process from a frayed labrum in his right shoulder that caused him to miss all of last year. The 28-year-old former All-Star closer could get a chance for saves in the second half, but he won’t be in the mix at the outset of the regular season.

Dodgers signed RHP Alex Reyes to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
The deal was reported over the weekend and is now official. Reyes could reportedly make up to $10 million over two years. The 28-year-old didn’t pitch at all last season after undergoing labrum surgery and was non-tendered by the Cardinals in November. The former All-Star closer might not be a factor for the Dodgers early on, but he’s a reasonable gamble at these terms.

Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports that the Dodgers are signing free agent right-hander Alex Reyes to a one-year contract with a club option for 2024.
Reyes, 28, will be guaranteed just $1.1 million, but if he gets healthy and pitches well, he could make $10 million for two years. An All-Star in 2021, Reyes was non-tendered by the Cardinals in November after undergoing labrum surgery and missing last season. He probably won’t be on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster, but he could be ready to contribute sometime within the first couple of months.

Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports that the Dodgers, among other teams, have shown interest in free agent reliever Alex Reyes.
the 28-year-old fireballer missed the entire 2022 season due to a multitude of injuries, including a shoulder injury that resulted in a season-ending surgery. If he gets healthy, he’s a potential difference maker out of the pen. In 2021, his last healthy season, he posted a 3.24 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 29 saves, and 10 wins across 72 1/3 innings.

    Cardinals non-tendered RHP Alex Reyes.
Reyes had 29 saves and a 3.24 ERA in 2021, but he missed last season with a damaged labrum that required surgery. If he gets healthy, he’s a potential difference maker out of the pen. The Cardinals, though, weren’t willing to risk in the neighborhood of $3 million on that possibility.

Cardinals activated RHP Alex Reyes from the 60-day injured list.
Reyes still appears to be a non-tender candidate, but he is back on the active 40-man roster in St. Louis for the time being. The 28-year-old former top prospect has logged only 145 career innings at the MLB level due to a variety of physical ailments. He did not throw a pitch at any level in 2022.
