Martín Pérez and Alek Jacob were added to the Padres roster for the NLDS.
Pérez was probably going to be added anyway, but it became a certainty when Joe Musgrove went down; he’ll be the team’s fourth starter for the remainder of the postseason. Jacob is taking Nick Ahmed’s spot, giving the Padres an even 13/13 split of pitchers and position players.

Padres optioned RHP Alek Jacob to Triple-A El Paso.
Jakob is being sent down to make room for Saturday’s starter Randy Vasquez on the active roster. He had a 2.45 ERA in seven appearances with San Diego this year.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #37
Padres recalled RHP Alek Jacob from Triple-A El Paso.
Jakob rejoins San Diego’s bullpen mix ahead of Saturday’s game against the Rays after allowing one run over 6 1/3 innings with a 13/1 K/BB ratio in four appearances for the Padres earlier this season.

Padres optioned RHP Alek Jacob to Triple-A El Paso.
Jacob winds up heading back to the minors after allowing just one run over 6 1/3 innings with a 13/1 K/BB ratio in four appearances for the Padres since getting called up back on July 27. The 26-year-old righty figures to be back in San Diego within a couple weeks, if not sooner.

Padres recalled RHP Alek Jacob from Triple-A El Paso.
Jacob made three relief appearances last year for the Padres and will join San Diego’s bullpen ahead of Saturday’s showdown against the Orioles. The 26-year-old right-hander has posted a pedestrian 5.59 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 58/27 K/BB ratio across 46 2/3 innings (35 appearances) this season for Triple-A El Paso.

Padres optioned RHPs Alek Jacob and Logan Gillaspie to Triple-A El Paso; Re-assigned RHPs Ryan Bergert and Tommy Nance and LHP Jayvien Sandridge to minor league camp.
The Padres are trimming down their roster a bit more aggressively than most teams, as they’re set to open up the season first in South Korea against the Dodgers in just a couple of weeks. None of the five players sent out on Saturday were real candidates to break camp with the big league club, though Jacob should see plenty of action out of the Padres’ bullpen during the 2024 campaign.

Alek Jacob gave up a homer in his lone inning of relief to take a loss to the Brewers on Friday.
It’s the first run Jacob has allowed in three innings this spring. Jacob was off to an incredible start as a reliever in Double-A last year when he was called up to make his major league debut in July. Unfortunately, he got to pitch just three scoreless innings then before going down with a UCL sprain that ended his season. He’s healthy now, and while he’s an underdog to make the Opening Day roster, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he proves to be one of the Padres’ better relievers.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #44
Padres activated RHPs Joe Musgrove, Alek Jacob, Reiss Knehr and LHP Tim Hill from the 60-day injured list.
The 30-year-old right-hander finished the season on the injured list with a shoulder issue, but nearly made it back in late September. He should be able to participate in his regular offseason throwing program and is expected to enter spring training at full strength.

Padres transferred RHP Alek Jacob to the 60-day injured list.
The move clears a spot for Jurickson Profar on the 40-man roster. Jacob made his major league debut in July before going down with flexor and UCL issues in his elbow.

Padres rookie right-hander Alek Jacob was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain and a minor UCL sprain in his right elbow.
The 25-year-old hurler threw three scoreless innings for the Padres before landing on the injured list with the elbow issue. All things considered though, this is very encouraging news. He’ll be shut down from throwing for up to four weeks before being re-evaluated.
