AJ Pollock is joining the Mariners for the remainder of spring training in a coaching role.

Pollock, 35, is currently stationed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain. In 138 plate appearances on the season, he’s slashing .173/.225/.323 with just five homers and 15 RBI. Expect him to see all of his action with the Giants against left-handed pitching.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Giants will acquire AJ Pollock and Mark Mathias from the Mariners.
No word yet on what trader Jerry Dipoto is set to receive in return for the Mariners. Pollock — who is currently stationed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain — as made a career out of mashing left-handed pitching, and given their platoon-heavy approach in San Francisco that’s exactly what they’ll be looking for him to do there as well.
  • SEA Outfielder #8
Mariners placed OF AJ Pollock on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Pollock sustained the injury during Friday night’s ballgame against the Blue Jays. No word yet on the severity of the strain, or how long he may be sidelined for. Taylor Trammell was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma to take his place on the active roster.
  • SEA Outfielder #8
AJ Pollock was pulled from Friday night’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a hamstring injury.
The 35-year-old outfielder will be evaluated further on Saturday. Pollock has seen an uptick in playing time with Jarred Kelenic (foot) landing on the injured list on Thursday, but it’s possible that he could be heading there as well now. Stay tuned to his status prior to first pitch on Saturday.
  • SEA Outfielder #10
Mariners placed OF Jarred Kelenic on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left foot.
It was an avoidable situation, as Kelenic reportedly suffered the injury kicking the water cooler after striking out on Wednesday. The lapse in judgment could end his season, though there’s no clear timetable for his return just yet. The 24-year-old was enjoying a bit of a bounceback season, hitting .252/.320/.439 with 11 home runs and 12 steals in 90 games. The Mariners called up Cade Marlowe to take Kelenic’s spot on the roster, and starts in left field could be split between Marlowe, AJ Pollock, and Dylan Moore for the time being.
