  • COL Shortstop #7
Brendan Rodgers was scratched from the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers.
Rodgers was originally in the starting group, but now will get the penultimate game off. This likely has to do with the hip injury that kept him out of action recently. Aaron Schunk gets his spot in the lineup.
  • COL Shortstop #7
Brendan Rodgers is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Cardinals with a hamstring injury.
Rodgers was a late scratch from the lineup Tuesday, and the hamstring issue will keep the 28-year-old out for at least one more game. He did tell reporters that he’d be available off the bench for a bat, but he probably won’t be used in the field. Aaron Schunk gets the start again at second base while Rodgers recovers.
  • COL Third Baseman #30
Aaron Schunk had a homer and an RBI single against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
The single was a bouncer down the third base line that Nolan Arenado would have made a play on back in his Rockies days. As is, he just hoped it would go foul. Schunk is batting .228/.265/.342 in 83 plate appearances since being called up on June 28. It doesn’t seem all that likely that he’ll stick on the 40-man this winter.
  • COL Shortstop #7
Brendan Rodgers was scratched from the Rockies’ lineup for Tuesday night’s game against the Cardinals.
No reason was given for Rodgers’ removal from the lineup. He’s been replaced by Aaron Schunk, who will play second base and bat ninth.
  • COL Shortstop #7
Brendan Rodgers has been scratched from the lineup Saturday against the Cubs.
Rodgers was slated to hit fifth and play second base against the Cubs, but instead it will Aaron Schunk at the keystone and hitting ninth. There should be an update on why Rodgers is absent shortly.
  • COL Third Baseman #24
Ryan McMahon is not in the lineup against Atlanta on Tuesday.
McMahon will get a rare breather against southpaw Chris Sale and the Atlanta staff. He’ll take a seat with Aaron Schunk hitting ninth against Sale and playing the hot corner.
  • COL Third Baseman #30
Aaron Schunk went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Marlins on Wednesday.
Schunk drew a walk in the third inning, then took Max Meyer deep for a solo homer in the fifth to give the Rockies the lead. It was the first home run of the season for the 27-year-old infielder. He’s slashing .175/.230/.281 across 61 sporadic plate appearances.
  • COL Third Baseman #24
Ryan McMahon is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Nationals.
This will be the third straight left-handed starter the Rockies have faced so left-handed hitters McMahon, Charlie Blackmon, and Jake Cave are all getting the day off. McMahon usually doesn’t sit against lefties, but he has been ice cold since June 1st, so the Rockies are more inclined to give him a day off. Aaron Schunk will start at third base and hit ninth while rookie Jordan Beck plays center field in Blackmon’s place and Sam Hilliard starts in right field over Cave.
  • COL Third Baseman #24
Ryan McMahon (finger) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Red Sox.
McMahon will sit out his second straight contest after jamming his finger over the weekend. The 29-year-old third baseman is day-to-day for the moment. It’ll be rookie Aaron Schunk filling in at the hot corner in his absence.
  • COL Shortstop #14
Ezequiel Tovar is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Brewers.
It looks to be a routine day off for the 22-year-old shortstop. Tovar has slumped recently after a very strong start to the season, hitting just .205/.244/.231 with no homers, one RBI and a 14/2 K/BB ratio over 41 plate appearances in his last nine games. Aaron Schunk will start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Colin Rea and the Brewers on Wednesday evening at Coors Field.
