Mike Fiers has signed with the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League.
Fiers, 36, was limited to just two starts last season with the A’s because of an elbow issue. He’ll likely be looking to prove his health before hoping to latch on with a major league club.

Mike Fiers (elbow) will operate in relief in his next minor league rehab appearance.
Fiers worked as a starter in his rehab debut Tuesday at Triple-A Las Vegas and surrendered three earned runs over just 1 2/3 innings. If he does make it back to the A’s this year, it’ll almost certainly be in a bullpen role. The veteran right-hander has been sidelined since early May due to an elbow sprain.

Mike Fiers (elbow) is beginning a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Las Vegas.
It’ll be his first live game since he went down with a sprained right elbow back in early May. Fiers could be an option for the A’s before the end of the 2021 regular season, probably in a long relief role.

Mike Fiers (elbow) has begun playing catch at a distance of 60 feet.
Baby steps, but progress nonetheless. Fiers has been out since May 7 due to lingering elbow discomfort.

Mike Fiers (elbow) has been unable to resume throwing.
Athletics manager Bob Melvin told reporters Saturday that Fiers is “still having some problems” and remains shut down from throwing. A visit to Dr. James Andrews didn’t reveal any structural problems with his right elbow, so it’s a bit concerning that he’s still having issues. There’s a strong possibility that the 36-year-old righty is unable to return this season.

Mike Fiers is experiencing renewed discomfort in his right elbow and will visit Dr. James Andrews.
That’s never a good combination of words for a pitcher. Fiers has been sidelined since early May due to a sprained right elbow and there should be further information on his health by the end of the week.

Athletics transferred RHP Mike Fiers to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in Fiers recovery process, this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot in the club’s 40-man roster for Cam Bedrosian. The veteran right-hander is battling elbow discomfort and will now be sidelined until mid-Summer at the earliest.

Athletics trainer Nick Paparesta said Saturday that Mike Fiers (elbow) will be shut down for a few weeks.
Paparesta added that Fiers felt some discomfort after his last start and has some fluid built up in that area from a previous ligament injury. The 35-year-old righty has already been placed on the 10-day injured list, and it doesn’t sound like he will be back until some point later this summer.

Athletics placed RHP Mike Fiers on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 7, with a sprained right elbow.
Fiers was crushed for five runs over 3 1/3 innings on Thursday in a loss to the Blue Jays and could be sidelined for an extended period now. The 35-year-old righty owns a bloated 7.71 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 9 1/3 innings (two starts) this season.

Mike Fiers gave up five runs over 3 1/3 innings on Thursday to pick up a loss to the Blue Jays.
Fiers was in trouble from the jump while allowing nine hits and two walks against two strikeouts. He was able to get through the first two innings unscatched, but he gave up a three-run homer in the third to Randal Grichuk and a two-run shot to Danny Jansen an inning later before being pulled. The Blue Jays lineup is going to get a lot of pitchers, and Fiers doesn’t have the arsenal to be trusted against this kind of lineup. He’ll be a risky fantasy streamer on Wednesday as well against the Red Sox.
