The Knicks have waived Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
He was always considered a long-shot to make the regular-season roster. There shouldn’t be a huge market for MKG with his glaring lack of offense.

The Knickerbockers reportedly decided to add Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to their roster on a one-year deal.
He’s a power forward with zero range or any offensive game to speak of, so he should fit right in amongst the other 357 bigs in New York. It’s even possible that Tom Thibodeau could give him way too many minutes at the expense of guys like Julius Randle, Obi Toppin and Mitchell Robinson in the name of defense if he makes the team. His contract is reportedly an Exhibit10 deal, so he could be waived at the end of training camp. Either way, he’s not worth your attention in fantasy hoops.

The Knicks are said to be interested in free agent and defensive specialist Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
This makes sense because new Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is a defensive-minded coach, to say the least, and the team also thinks he’d be a solid ‘locker room guy,’ as well. With career averages of just 8.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.7 blocks and 0.1 3-pointers, fantasy managers don’t need to put MKG on their radar, but he could end up being a smart acquisition for a team badly in need of making some good moves.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will be available to play on Tuesday against the Kings.
It’s possible he’ll get out there for some limited run, but he’s a complete non-factor in fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Power Forward #14
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (conditioning) will not suit up for Friday’s game against the Rockets.
He was late to the Orlando Bubble, so his conditioning still isn’t quite where it needs to be. However, even when active, MKG is rarely relevant in fantasy hoops.

  • NBA Power Forward #14
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has arrived in Orlando to join his Mavericks teammates.
It’s still unclear when guard Trey Burke will join the team, but he’s expected soon and coach Rick Carlisle referred to the delay for Burke and MKG as “logistical.” All signs point to the Mavs’ healthy guys being ready to roll when the season resumes -- they will of course be without Courtney Lee (calf), Jalen Brunson (shoulder) and Dwight Powell (Achilles).

  • NBA Power Forward #14
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist hasn’t joined his teammates in the Orlando bubble yet.
“We’re working to get him here logistically and we hope that it happens soon,” coach Rick Carlisle said. This is all we have to work with but it’s not something fantasy managers need to concern themselves with. We don’t anticipate MKG being in the rotation apart from a handful of minutes as a defensive specialist in certain matchups.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was a healthy DNP-CD during Wednesday’s win vs. the Nuggets.
MKG was battling an illness earlier in the day, but there’s no indication that it’s more than a common cold. He’s not in the rotation and is on your waiver wire for a reason.
  • NBA Power Forward #14
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (illness) will play Wednesday vs. the Nuggets.
There’s a path to playing time for MKG tonight due to the absence of Kristaps Porzingis (rest), but it’s still not enough to recommend streaming him.
  • NBA Power Forward #14
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (illness) is probable for Wednesday’s game vs. the Nuggets.
It’s possible he could see minutes in the teens tonight with Kristaps Porzingis taking a rest day, but that’s still not enough floor time for MKG to make an impact in fantasy hoops. Leave him on the wire.
