Browns GM Andrew Berry said Mike Hall Jr. (knee) has a “months-long” injury and expects him to be ready for the 2025 season.
It’s possible that Hall Jr. starts training camp on the PUP list depending on how many months are involved. Hall Jr missed five games due to a personal conduct policy suspension this season after a domestic violence arrest. He wound up playing eight games and finishing with one sack, 14 combined tackles, and six quarterback hits as a rotational lineman.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #51
Browns DT Mike Hall Jr. (leg) was carted off the field in the third quarter of Week 18 against the Ravens.
Training staff used an air cast to stabilize the rookie defensive lineman’s right leg after it appeared to get trapped and rolled up on. He rose his arm to fans as he departed the playing field on the cart. The injury ends a disappointing season for the No. 54 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #51
Browns DT Mike Hall (knee) will not play in Week 11 against the Saints.
Hall injured his knee during Thursday’s practice. Per head coach Kevin Stefanski, “He’s likely out for a period of time.” Reading the tea leaves, a stay on injured reserve is likely on the table. The rookie has been a part-time player in five games this year, logging five total tackles and a pair of QB hits.
  • CLE Linebacker #43
Browns activated LB Mohamoud Diabate, DT Mike Hall Jr. and DT Maurice Hurst II.
Cleveland made a slew of roster moves. The Browns also placed T James Hudson III (shoulder) on IR, released WR James Proche II, and elevated S Chris Edmonds and WR Jaelon Darden from the practice squad for Week 6’s matchup with the Eagles.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #51
NFL suspended Browns DT Mike Hall Jr. five games for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
Hall had been on the commissioner’s exempt list following a domestic violence arrest in August. He’ll be eligible to return in Week 11 against the Saints, after Cleveland’s bye week.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle
Browns selected Ohio State DT Mike Hall Jr. with the No. 54 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Once considered the 37th-ranked overall player in the 2021 recruiting class, Hall’s (6'3/290) 92nd percentile RAS paints the picture of an undersized, jittery interior defensive lineman. At just a tick under 300 pounds, Hall occupied the middle of DC Jim Knowles’ lockdown defense in Columbus for two years. He is at his best on the move, whether that is as a pass-rusher or on runs on the outside. His lack of NFL-ready size led to struggles at the point of attack, despite his plus-wingspan. Hall tracks the play like a fly ball, it’s just a bit harder when it’s coming straight at you. When he gets going to the outside, he quickly disengages and makes the play with good aim at the outside hip, though his tendency to twist down runners may indicate weakness in his core. Hall’s hand leverage is probably his calling card, allowing him to quickly disengage or manipulate blockers. If he can be more disciplined in his play, he could more effectively handle his assignments even when he gets double-teamed. In Cleveland, Hall will join a Browns defensive line graded by PFF as the NFL’s fourth worst run-stopping unit.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #51
Ohio State received a verbal commitment from four-star 2021 DT Michael Hall Jr.
Hall Jr. made an official visit to the Buckeyes in November, and he obviously enjoyed his time in Columbus. He also was considering schools like Auburn, Georgia and LSU; among others. In the 247Sports composite rankings, Hall Jr. ranks as the 19th ranked defensive tackle in the 2021 class.
  • CLE Defensive Tackle #51
Uncommitted four-star 2021 DT Michael Hall is taking an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend.
This will be Hall’s second unofficial game visit to OSU this fall, as the 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive tackle earlier checked in with the Buckeyes when they played Miami (OH). The stakes will be considerably higher this weekend, as Penn State will be rolling into Columbus. Auburn, Georgia and LSU are three other programs the Streetsboro, Ohio, native would like to visit upcoming. The 247Sports composite board sees Hall home as the No. 317 overall prospect in the 2021 class.
