UNLV:
The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are coming off a 72-65 victory over Pacific on Saturday, snapping a three-game losing streak and improving to 5-4. Sixth-year guard Julian Rishwain, a Los Angeles native, led the team with 21 points, while sophomore guard Dedan Thomas Jr., a Las Vegas native, contributed 16 points and 5 assists in the win. Thomas Jr. has been a standout this season, scoring in double-figures in all nine games, and is averaging a team-high 16.7 points per game along with 3.8 assists per game.
UNLV is led by fourth-year head coach Kevin Kruger who has been at the helm of the program since March 2021. Last year Kruger led the Runnin’ Rebels to a 21-13 record and a fourth-place finish in the Mountain West.
Dayton:
The Dayton Flyers upset No.6 Marquette on Saturday with a 71-63 victory at home—it was the Flyer’s fourth consecutive win and second victory over a top-six ranked team this season. Junior guard Javon Bennett and graduate forward Zed Key led the team in scoring with 15 points each, while senior forward Nate Santos added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the win.
Dayton’s offense has been a strong point this season. The team is currently averaging 79.8 points per game while holding their opponents to just 67.5 points per game. The Flyers also lead the A10 in 3-point shooting percentage (37.5%) and field-goal percentage (49.8%).
