Tonight’s match up between DePaul and St. John’s marks the 55th meeting between the two programs. The Red Storm lead the series 32-22 and have won in each of the last 5 match ups.

DePaul:

The Blue Demons (8-2) are off to their best start since 2021-2022. They snapped a 2-game losing streak with a 91-72 victory over Wichita State at home on Saturday. The Blue Demons made 17 three-pointers, setting a program record for a regulation game. Sophomore guard Jacob Meyer led the team with 23 points while junior guard CJ Gunn added a career-high 22 points off the bench. Graduate guard Isaiah Rivera scored 17 points, tying his career-high with 5 three-pointers.

The Blue Demons, in their first year under head coach Chris Holtmann, look to make their first appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2 decades.

St. John’s:

The Red Storm are also 8-2 after a dominant 99-77 victory over the Bryant University Bulldogs. Junior forward Zuby Ejiofor finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, recording his fourth double-double of the season. His standout performance earned him a spot on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for the second straight week. RJ Luis Jr. and Aaron Scott each added 17 points in the win.

Luis Jr. currently leads the Red Storm with 16.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in every game this season.

In his first season with the Red Storm, head coach Rick Pitino guided St. John’s to its first 20-win season since 2018-2019. Now, in year two, the Red Storm look to build on that success, aiming for a strong finish in the Big East tournament and a chance to compete in this year’s NCAA tournament.
