  • FA Guard #79
Redskins seventh-round rookie Maurice Hurt is starting at right guard in Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
The ‘Skins are still trying to figure out how to recover from Kory Lichtensteiger’s season-ending knee injury. Hurt is a raw project that isn’t likely to be effective, but at least he allows Will Montgomery to go back to his natural center spot. The good news for Washington’s line is left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) is starting.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins G Maurice Hurt is having his knee scoped Thursday.
Hurt will almost certainly be sidelined for the rest of OTAs and mandatory minicamp in two weeks, but he should be back in plenty of time for training camp. The 25-year-old appeared in 13 games last season, starting one.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins promoted OG Maurice Hurt from the practice squad.
A raw seventh-round pick out of Florida, Hurt will take LG Kory Lichtensteiger’s roster spot after he goes on I.R. with a torn ACL and MCL. Hurt will be a backup going forward. He’s not a candidate to start at this point.
  • DEN Tackle #76
Redskins RT Tyler Polumbus is still bothered by concussion symptoms.
Polumbus has not even been cleared to practice since sustaining his concussion in the Week 15 win at Cleveland. Maurice Hurt, who handled himself well in a Week 16 spot-start, will likely get the nod again for Sunday night’s showdown with the Cowboys.
  • DEN Tackle #76
Redskins RT Tyler Polumbus (concussion) is inactive for Sunday’s Week 16 game against the Eagles.
It’s a surprise after Polumbus practiced on Friday and was expected to play. He must not have gained final clearance from an independent neurologist. It’s a blow the continuity of a Redskins’ offensive line that has remained remarkably healthy this year, but Polumbus is just a backup-caliber talent anyway. Maurice Hurt will start and we wouldn’t expect much of a drop-off.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins placed OG Maurice Hurt (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.
Hurt had his knee scoped in May. Hurt has been ultra-slow to recover from the procedure and will spend at least the first six weeks on the shelf.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins G Maurice Hurt (knee) is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
Hurt opened camp on active/PUP after getting his knee scoped in May. He’ll likely be a backup behind Kory Lichtensteiger and Chris Chester this season.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins placed OG Maurice Hurt on injured reserve, ending his season.
Hurt began the season on the reserve/PUP list after he had his knee scoped in May. Coach Mike Shanahan says Hurt isn’t really injured, he’s just too far behind. The 26-year-old will return to compete for a roster spot in 2014.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins OG Maurice Hurt reported to training camp out of shape.
Hurt has had conditioning problems in the past, and failed a drug test at the 2011 Combine. Under a new coaching staff, his roster spot is not secure.
  • FA Guard #79
Redskins selected Florida G Maurice Hurt with the No. 217 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
Hurt has decent quickness when pulling, but poor blitz recognition, and often struggles on passing downs. Viewed as a below-average athlete, he also has serious character concerns after failing a drug test at the Combine. He’ll have a lot to prove before the ‘Skins deem him worthy of a roster spot.
