Yuta Watanabe (right wrist sprain) will not play in Friday’s game against the Hawks.
Friday’s game will be Watanabe’s third straight on the sideline due to his sprained wrist. The absence has opened up rotation minutes for Matthew Hurt, who hasn’t done enough to merit being rostered in fantasy leagues.
  • MEM Power Forward #2
Xavier Tillman (left knee soreness) is doubtful to play against Boston on Sunday.
This will likely be a third straight absence for Tillman, and they don’t really have many center options available. Matt Hurt and Trey Jemison may be asked to play big minutes against a mostly healthy Celtics team, so it will be safer to look in other directions for streaming value.
  • MEM Small Forward #20
Matthew Hurt made his NBA debut on Monday and finished with 10 points (3-of-6 FGs), two rebounds, one assist, and two 3-pointers against Sacramento.
After spending two seasons at Duke, Hurt has been playing with the Memphis Hustle since 2021. However, just hours before tipoff on Monday, it was reported that Hurt had signed a 10-day deal with the Grizzlies. He has averaged 25.5 points per game in the G-League this year, which likely contributed to him getting the short term deal as the team deals with a ton of injuries. However, he played well enough in his debut to be worth keeping an eye on. If the Grizzlies pull the plug down the stretch, he could provide excellent value over the final few weeks.

Matthew Hurt has signed a 10-day contract with Memphis, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Hurt spent training camp with Memphis, and now he will get a chance to play regular season minutes. They’re dealing with plenty of injuries, but it is still unlikely that Hurt makes any sort of fantasy impact.
  • FA Shooting Guard #9
The Grizzlies waived Josh Christopher and Isaiah Todd on Saturday to make room for Mychal Mulder and Matthew Hurt.
Christopher and Todd were sent to Memphis in the deals that sent out Dillon Brooks and Tyus Jones. They were longshots to be part of the Grizzlies’ rotation, and they’ll now have the chance to sign two-ways for different teams. Mulder and Hurt’s deals weren’t disclosed by the team, but they are likely just training camp invites on Exhibit 10 deals. Both will likely end up with the Memphis Hustle.
