Cole

His first name is pronounced mar-KWEECE and Cole is a special teams gunner. According to the New York Daily News, the 28-year-old had also earned a reputation as the biggest prankster on the Jets roster.

A special teamer by trade, injuries forced Cole into action last season, where he ended up making a start and notching an interception. He finished with 17 combined tackles. If all goes according to plan for the Patriots this season, Cole won’t appear on defense.

Cole was waived just four days ago. He’ll contribute on special teams if he’s active for Week 5.

The Patriots are doing this every week with Cole. Last week, they cut him on Friday and re-signed him this past Monday. He’s an expendable guy.

They may be bringing back OL Josh Kline with Sebastian Vollmer battling an injury. Cole has been a frequent roster yo-yo for the NFL’s Foxboro team.

Cole has been a strong special teamer in the past, but he couldn’t measure up on defense. The Pats needed roster room for their new waiver claims.

Cole is back just one day after getting released. He’s a fifth corner and special teamer.

Cole had played 165 snaps on defense, but just 29 since Week 11. His release is a sign the Patriots’ banged-up secondary is getting healthier heading into Week 17.

The Broncos also promoted G/T Vinston Painter from the practice squad. Cole’s signing is eye-brow raising in that he was waived by the Patriots only 19 days ago, but Denver has an obvious need at cornerback. Cole’s Pats experience is just a plus. Cole played 165 snaps on defense this season. He could see the field against his former team on Sunday.

He’s just temporary depth with CB Donald Strickland battling an injury.
