The Thunder have waived Marquese Chriss.
Chriss was sent to OKC as part of the Christian Wood deal, but he was a long shot to make the opening night roster. He’ll now look to latch on with another team, but it’s unlikely he’ll find himself in a situation where he’d be capable of providing value in fantasy hoops.

As part of an eight-team trade, Marquese Chriss has been dealt to the Thunder, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday.
Chriss was dealt to Houston as part of the Christian Wood deal, but they’ve shipped him off before he could ever suit up for them. As far as impacting fantasy hoops, this is a pretty pointless deal. Chriss will be a depth veteran for the Thunder, but shouldn’t see the floor much, if he does at all. He had knee surgery in June and wasn’t ready for the start of training camp. Lucky for him, anyone in OKC can be a silly season hero if they’re healthy.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday that the Thunder have traded Derrick Favors, Ty Jerome, Moe Harkless, Theo Maledon, and a 2025 2nd from Atlanta to Houston for David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquise Chriss.
This may be the furthest thing from a blockbuster deal, but it helps get OKC $10 million under the luxury tax while acquiring two trade exceptions, and Houston got a second-round pick for only taking on $1 million in cap space. This move was simply about moving money around for these teams. Nwaba was solid for Houston two years ago, but his role dwindled last season. Now, he’ll get a fresh start in OKC, but it probably won’t result in a huge role. Leave him off your draft board, though he could make an impact later in the season if OKC benches all of their starters again.

Marquese Chriss (knee surgery) is still not ready to play and is the only Rocket not fully healthy entering training camp.
In an article posted recently by Dream Shake, it is speculated that Chriss may not be long to stick with the Rockets based on a logjam at the forward spots. He’s not likely to offer fantasy value this season.

  • NBA Power Forward #14
Marquese Chriss underwent knee surgery on Wednesday and will be rehabbing for the next couple months according to Chris Haynes.
Haynes did not specify which knee. Chriss was traded to the Rockets on Wednesday and will hopefully have the chance to compete for some minutes off the bench since Houston is lacking some depth up front.

Marquese Chriss has been traded to the Rockets as part of the Christian Wood package.
It’s very possible Chriss was just salary filler but he’s at least somewhat interesting for the Rockets to look at as he enters his age-25 season. Chriss has had some good moments since flopping in Phoenix years ago, so maybe the Rockets will give him a look as a bench big. He’s not on the fantasy radar for the time being and we’re just excited about the Alperen Sengun show.

The Rockets are trading Christian Wood to the Dallas Mavericks, Shams Charania reports.
The Mavericks will send the 26th pick to Houston in addition to Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke and Marquese Chriss. This trade can only be viewed as a good thing for Wood, as he gets a fresh start in Dallas without the threat of Alperen Sengun behind him. Playing alongside Luka Doncic has its perks too obviously, and those two should form a deadly partnership on offense. Wood will be playing in the final year of his contract so the Rockets were wise to get something back in return before they turned their frontcourt over to Sengun.

Marquese Chriss (non-COVID illness) has been cleared to play against the Spurs on Sunday.
Chriss will play through some sickness for this game after missing their last one. Chriss will split backup forward minutes with Davis Bertans, though he doesn’t usually see enough to be valuable in fantasy hoops.

Marquese Chriss (non-COVID illness) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Spurs.
Dallas may still have some work to do with regard to earning the 3-seed in the West, which would have an impact on Chriss’ playing time (if cleared). That being said, Chriss isn’t worth picking up in any league, however.

Marquese Chriss (non-COVID illness) has been ruled out for Friday’s game against Portland.
Chriss hasn’t been a consistent enough part of the rotation for this to affect any fantasy hoops leagues. Davis Bertans may see a few extra minutes off the bench, but he hasn’t been a great fantasy asset this season either. Josh Green could also make up for some of Chriss’ minutes as well.
