Dolphins placed WR Marlon Moore (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season.
A core special teamer, Moore suffered the foot injury in last week’s game against the Giants. The coaching staff appreciates his speed, but he’s managed just six receptions in 15 games the past two years. Moore will likely be back to vie for a special teams role in 2012.
  • FA Wide Receiver #83
Julius Pruitt appears to have the edge on Marlon Moore, Clyde Gates and Hard Knocks star Chris Hogan for the Dolphins’ fifth wide receiver spot.
Undrafted out of tiny Ouachita Baptist, Pruitt has spent much of the past two years on Miami’s practice squad. The speedy Pruitt has seen quite a bit of time behind Davone Bess in the slot, but his primary contribution has been on special teams.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Marlon Moore caught three passes for 46 yards in Miami’s Week 6 win over the Rams.
The catches were Moore’s first of the season. His 29-yard touchdown in the second quarter was just the second of his career, and came on a badly busted coverage. Although it’s nice to see Moore get off the schneid, he was only involved at all because the Rams were intent on letting anyone besides Reggie Bush and Brian Hartline beat them. Moore remains off the radar.
  • FA Wide Receiver #10
Dolphins WR Jabar Gaffney has been working with the starting unit in practice.
The Dolphins are desperate for someone to emerge as the No. 3 receiver behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. Marlon Moore has the edge right now, but is ideally a special teamer. Look for Gaffney to eventually assume the role, but he won’t be a fantasy option in the Dolphins’ low-end offense.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
The Dolphins declined to tender restricted free agents WR Marlon Moore, S Jonathon Amaya, TE Jeron Mastrud, and DB Bryan McCann, and exclusive rights free agent Patrick Brown, making them unrestricted free agents.
The Dolphins want some of the above players back, but weren’t willing to pay the cost of the lowest possible tender. Moore, 25, caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown last season. Amaya and McCann play special teams.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
49ers signed WR Marlon Moore, formerly of the Dolphins, to a one-year contract.
Moore appeared in 14 games last season, but could never crack the Dolphins’ wafer-thin receiver rotation. He finished with six catches for 116 yards. San Francisco is similarly lean at wideout, but Moore will be facing an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Marlon Moore did not catch a pass in Sunday’s Week 1 win over the Packers.
Kyle Williams started opposite Anquan Boldin, leaving Moore with extremely limited snaps as the No. 3 receiver. We wouldn’t expect his role to grow as the Niners would find more upside in rookie Quinton Patton if they wanted to make a switch. Moore should not be on any fantasy rosters.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Marlon Moore had one catch for six yards in Week 2 against the Seahawks.
Moore is behind Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis, and Kyle Williams for targets and could lose the No. 3 receiver job to Quinton Patton. Continue to ignore him in all fantasy formats.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
Marlon Moore was held without a catch in San Francisco’s Week 3 loss to the Colts.
Moore now has one catch through three games. The clear-out specialist is miles from fantasy value.
  • FA Wide Receiver #15
49ers WR Marlon Moore caught three passes for 32 yards in Sunday night’s preseason game against the Vikings.
It’s time to start taking Moore seriously in re-draft leagues, not as a draft pick necessarily but putting him on the radar. He’s started each of San Francisco’s first three preseason games at “X” receiver, and Colin Kaepernick has the talent to elevate the performance of players around him. Through three preseason contests, Moore has four receptions for 44 yards, playing sparingly with the rest of San Francisco’s first-team group.
