Carter measured 6-foot-4 1/2, 252 before last year’s draft. He’s up to 275 now and is a full-time defensive end. Carter has an uphill climb to make the Pats’ roster, however, after the offseason additions of Chandler Jones, Trevor Scott, Jonathan Fanene, and Jake Bequette. He may head back to the practice squad.

Carter is now making $306,000 rather than the original $149,000. The sixth-rounder out of Central Arkansas recently turned down an opportunity to join an undisclosed team as a member of the 53-man roster. The Pats may end up promoting him to fill in for Andre Carter (quad).

The Pat essentially re-signed their practice squad with an invitation to offseason workouts and training camp. Ventrone was the ultimate roster yo-yo in 2011 while Carter’s contract was doubled to keep him away from a poacher in December.

Carter, a 2011 sixth-round pick, spent last season on the practice squad. He even had his salary doubled to $306,000 after winning practice player of the week seven times. Carter figures to latch on somewhere as a developmental prospect.

A former sixth-round pick, Carter spent last season on the Patriots’ practice squad. If signed, he’d function in a similar role with the Eagles.

A sixth-round pick in 2011, Carter has never appeared in an NFL game. Perhaps he’ll get another look from the NFL if he proves himself north of the border.

Carter is 6-foot-4, 252 with 4.70 speed and a 35-inch vertical, per his Pro Day results. He had 19 tackles for loss and six sacks last season, playing in the FCS. The Patriots will try to mold him into an outside, edge-rushing linebacker. Carter played defensive end last year at Central Arkansas.

A sixth-round pick, Carter was considered a project coming out of Central Arkansas. The Pats will likely stash him on the practice if he clears waivers.

A developmental project out of Central Arkansas, Carter was surprisingly the lone pass rusher New England drafted in April. This year’s lack of OTAs figures to be detrimental to all rookies, especially those coming from small schools. Carter won’t be counted on for an impact early in his first season.
