Mark Clayton and the Ravens are reportedly only $50,000-$60,000 apart in contract talks.
With the pick ahead and behind him signed, it’s tough to understand why Clayton remains out. He’s losing ground to Clarence Moore, but should still have a good chance to start if he gets in soon.

Ravens signed wide receiver Mark Clayton, a first-round pick, to a five-year, $8.2 million contract.
If Clayton can avoid his hamstring troubles, he should still be able to overtake Clarence Moore at wide receiver before the season starts. Clayton is still our favorite to be the top fantasy rookie wide receiver this season.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton took part in team drills for the first time in Ravens training camp.
The first-round pick caught a crossing route from Kyle Boller for a score. He has plenty of time to pass Clarence Moore for a starting job in week one.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton has been ''one of the most impressive players’’ in Ravens camp this week.
''He’s impressive,’' coach Brian Billick said. ''He’s picked up the offense very well in a short period of time.’' The polished receiver will play 12-15 snaps this weekend. He has plenty of time to win the starting job.

The AP reports Ravens WRs Mark Clayton (hamstring) and Demetrius Williams (hamstring) returned to practice Friday.
The Ravens can put the trade talks on hold for the time being. Williams, a rookie, could push Devard Darling to be Baltimore’s third receiver.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton has missed the last two Ravens practices with a hamstring injury.
It’s not believed to be serious, but Clayton struggled with similar problems a year ago. Clayton has promise in his second season, but is an injury risk.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The hamstring troubles of Mark Clayton could force the Ravens into looking at the trade market.
Clayton went to see a doctor about his recurring problem Wednesday, although Baltimore believes he’ll be fine. In win-now mode, the Ravens could talk to Denver about Ashley Lelie.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton made a pair of impressive catches at Ravens practice Monday.
His hamstring troubles appear to be behind him - for now. No one doubts Clayton’s ability, but a month of practicing without getting hurt would be a positive sign.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton (hamstring) hasn’t practiced during the final week of Ravens OTAs this week.
It’s a slight concern because Clayton missed so much work last offseason with the season injury. “We’re going to make him start renting his uniform if he’s not out here more,” coach Brian Billick said.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton caught two passes for 18 yards in Week 1.
Baltimore’s passing game was held in check by Tampa. Clayton remains a solid reserve fantasy wideout who will have better days this season.
