Patriots signed Miami DT Marcus Forston.
Once a top high school recruit, Forston was productive on the field but rarely was the latter, battling through constant injuries. He is a one-gap, penetrating three-technique kind of tackle and will push for a roster spot in camp.
  • Running Back #34
Of the Patriots’ UDFA signings, the Boston Globe feels RB Brandon Bolden, DT Marcus Forston, and T Markus Zusevics have the best chance of sticking.
Bolden missed action due to injury and suspension at Mississippi in 2011. The Pats carried five tailbacks for all of 2011 and Bolden is currently fifth. Forston dealt with injuries and a suspension at Miami and has an opportunity to win a job on the interior line. Zusevics tore his left pectoral muscle during the Combine, but would have been a draft pick had he been healthy.
  • FA Wide Receiver #6
Miami (FL) WR Tommy Streeter will forgo his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL draft.
He’ll be joined by DT Marcus Forston, whose junior season was limited to three games by year-ending knee surgery. Streeter is listed at 6'5/215 and ran a 4.4-flat forty time as a freshman. He led the ‘Canes in receptions (46), receiving yards (811), and touchdown catches (8), replacing Leonard Hankerson as Miami’s No. 1 wideout during a breakout junior year. Streeter could emerge as a second-day prospect by corroborating his athleticism in pre-draft workouts.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #72
    Patriots released DT Marcus Forston.
Forston was active for the first time all season in Week 3 against Baltimore, posting no stats in limited playing time. He lost his spot former Panther Terrell McClain.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #72
Patriots signed DT Marcus Forston from the practice squad.
Forston takes the open roster spot created by Rob Gronkowski (forearm) going on injured reserve. The backup lineman was on the active roster for the first three weeks of the season but appeared in just one game.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #72
    Patriots released DT Marcus Forston.
Forston was a highly recruited high school player that ended up going undrafted out of Miami in 2012. His release is good news for Joe Vellano.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #72
Patriots signed DT Marcus Forston to a reserve/future contract.
Forston wasn’t amongst the Pats’ initial wave of future signings on Monday. Perhaps his contract includes more complicated language, or even a small guarantee. A second-year undrafted free agent, Forston appeared in three games for the Pats this season, notching three tackles.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #72
Patriots waived DT Marcus Forston and CB Justin Green.
Forston had been helping along the Patriots’ injury-ravaged interior line, making three tackles in three games. The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin expects Green to be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
