Moore was the final first-round selection from the 2024 MLB Draft out of Stanford and winds up getting a slightly over-slot $3 million signing bonus from the defending World Series champions. The 20-year-old backstop has solid power, but there are some questions regarding the hit tool based on his collegiate track record. The big question for fantasy purposes is whether he’ll be able to stick at catcher long-term.

Moore was considered one of the top prospects of his prep class in 2022, but his strong commitment to Stanford saw him go undrafted. The left-handed hitting backstop swatted 16 homers and got on at a .414 clip for the Cardinal in 2024, but his .255 average is extremely low for a top collegiate prospect. He also isn’t considered a lock to stick behind the plate, but he’ll get the opportunity, and if he taps into his strong raw power he could be a solid fantasy option in the coming years.
