Andersen Pickard of MLB Daily Dish reports that the Mexican League has granted permission for the Dos Laredos Tecolotes to sign Luke Heimlich.
An agreement between the two sides was reached a month ago but was under review by the league due to Heimlich’s troubling legal past. Ultimately, they decided to approve the deal, so Heimlich has been assigned to the team’s active roster. There’s no doubt that Heimlich is talented enough to be in a minor league system right now, but it remains to be seen whether a club will take a chance on a guy who pleaded guilty to molesting a family member as a teenager.

Luke Heimlich’s contract with the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in the Mexican League is still being reviewed.
Reports from Jeff Passan of ESPN on Wednesday stated that Heimlich had signed with the Mexican League team, but he hasn’t been registered with the team. “We have to analyze his case,” Javier Salinas, the president of the Mexican league said in an interview with the New York Times. “It’s very difficult to see him registered in the Mexican League.” This would not be the first time that Heimlich signed with an international team only to have his contract rescinded, as his deal with the Chinese Professional Baseball League was also cancelled back in August. He went undrafted out of Oregon State in both his junior and senior years after reports were released that Heimlich pleaded guilty to molesting a family member as a teenager.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that former Oregon State pitcher Luke Heimlich has signed a contract with Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos of the Mexican League.
Heimlich, 23, was a highly-ranked collegiate pitching prospect at one point but went undrafted twice after reports came out that he had pled guilty to molesting a family member when he was a teenager. Heimlich previously signed a deal with the Lamigo Monkeys of the Chinese Professional League in August 2018, but that contract was terminated due to their zero tolerance policy with players that have a criminal history. It’s doubtful that he will ever have a future in Major League Baseball.
