Logan Morrison has signed with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League.
Morrison signed a minor league contract with the Reds last summer after spending a few games with the High Point Rockers, but never made it back to the majors. The 34-year-old journeyman slugger last appeared in the big leagues during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign when he got into nine games for the Brewers.

Reds signed 1B Logan Morrison to a minor league contract.
The 33-year-old struggled during his time with the Brewers during the 2020 campaign -- hitting just .120/.214/.280 with one homer, two RBI and an 8/3 K/BB ratio in 28 plate appearances -- then failed to land an invite to spring training over the winter. He was off to a strong start with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League though, slashing .370/.486/.741 with three long balls, nine RBI and a 7/3 K/BB ratio through nine games. He’s nothing more than minor league depth for the Reds at this point.

Logan Morrison has signed with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League.
The release from the High Point Rockers notes that Morrison intends to play for Team USA in Olympic qualifying this summer, so his time in independent ball will be a tuneup of sorts. The 33-year-old failed to latch on with a major league club this winter after hitting .120/.214/.280 in 28 plate appearances with the Brewers in 2020.

1B Logan Morrison has elected free agency.
Morrison cleared waivers after being designated for assignment, but he declined an outright and will instead look for a gig elsewhere. He seems unlikely to find one that will offer assured playing time.

Brewers designated 1B/DH Logan Morrison for assignment.
The move clears a spot for Luis Urias to join the active roster. Morrison was just 3-for-25 with a homer through nine games with the Brewers.

Logan Morrison had another miserable night at the plate in Saturday’s loss to the Reds, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts.
Maybe the return of Logan Morrison isn’t going to be a thing in 2020. The 32-year-old -- hitting out of the cleanup spot in the Brewers’ lineup -- went down swinging with a runner on third base in the opening inning. He then grounded out to the shortstop twice before going down hacking against Raisel Iglesias to end the ballgame. Through 22 plate appearances, he’s slashing an anemic .136/.174/.318 with one homer, one RBI and a 6/1 K/BB ratio.

  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Christian Yelich went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday’s loss to the Reds.
Logan Morrison also went deep in the loss. This homer from Yelich was a traditional one after he pulled off an inside-the-park job on Thursday against the White Sox. The 28-year-old has been suffering through a slow start to the season, but he’s beginning to turn the corner here in early August. Don’t worry about him.

  • KC Outfield #6
Lorenzo Cain is absent from the Brewers’ lineup Wednesday.
Cain is off to a nice start this season, but the team is wary of overworking him even in a shortened season. Ryan Braun is also sitting out, as the Brew Crew has Ben Gamel in center field, Justin Smoak in the designated hitter spot and Logan Morrison at first base.

  • MIL Outfield #8
Ryan Braun is absent from the Brewers’ lineup Sunday.
Braun started on Opening Day but has now been on the bench two straight days. He battled various ailment during a truncated summer camp and it’s clear he will not be a full-time player initially. Logan Morrison is in the designated hitter spot and Ben Gamel is in right field over Avisail Garcia.

Brewers purchased the contract of 1B Logan Morrison from Triple-A San Antonio.
Morrison was informed Sunday that he had made the Brewers’ Opening Day roster, and now it’s officially official. The 32-year-old will probably mostly serve as a bench bat this season for Milwaukee.
