Lewis Brinson has agreed to a one-year contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
The former top prospect was simply never able to put things together at the big league level, slashing .198/.246/.328 with 28 homers and 109 RBI over 1150 plate appearances across six seasons. Still only 28-years-old, there’s a chance that a strong season overseas could springboard Brinson to another opportunity stateside.

Lewis Brinson has elected free agency.
The former top prospect was outrighted off of the Giants 40-man roster near the end of September after slashing a disappointing .167/.211/.472 with three homers, four RBI and a stolen base in 39 plate appearances. He’s still only 28-years-old, so given his pedigree there will be teams still willing to take a chance on him -- though it’ll have to come on a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

Giants sent OF Lewis Brinson outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
The one-time top prospect was designated for assignment on September 21, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as outfield depth for the Giants. The 28-year-old slashed an atrocious .167/.211/.472 across 39 plate appearances during his time in San Francisco.

Giants designated OF Lewis Brinson for assignment.
The Giants needed to free up a spot on the active roster for Jason Vosler on Wednesday and unfortunately for Brinson, he was the odd-man out this time around. The 28-year-old hit just .167/.211/.472 with three homers, four RBI and a 14/2 K/BB ratio in 39 plate appearances with the Giants. There’s a chance that he’ll attract interest on waivers.

Lewis Brinson went 1-for-2 and scored a run as the Giants fell to the Dodgers on Sunday night.
Brinson smacked a leadoff double off of Caleb Ferguson in the fifth inning then dashed around to score as Thairo Estrada reached on a throwing error by Trea Turner. The 28-year-old outfielder has struggled overall at the big league level this season, slashing just .188/.235/.531 with three homers, four RBI and a stolen base in 35 plate appearances.

Lewis Brinson drew a pair of walks and scored a run as the Giants triumphed over the Cubs on Sunday evening at Wrigley Field.
Brinson started a rally with a leadoff walk in the eighth inning, then swiped second base and rode home on a two-run blast off the bat of Wilmer Flores. His season-long numbers still need work though, as he’s slashing just .192/.250/.577 with three homers, four RBI and that one stolen base in 29 plate appearances.

Lewis Brinson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Dodgers.
Brinson led off the game with a solo homer against Tyler Anderson for his lone (but loud) knock of the contest. Through just 19 at-bats with the Giants this month, Brinson has connected for three homers. It’s not impossible that the former top prospect could be good for a little power run down the stretch, here, though he doesn’t represent a must-add on the waiver wire at this juncture.

Lewis Brinson homered twice and drove in three runs in a 7-4 win on Monday over the Dodgers.
Impressive. Brinson hit one of four homers that the Giants hit off of Andrew Heaney on Monday, and then added some insurance with a solo blast in the ninth against Justin Bruihl. The former top prospect has only been up since September, but he’s hit .364 with a 1.000 OPS in his limited action. Brinson is playing for a chance to be a part of the Giants next year, and is someone worth a look in NL-only formats.

Giants selected the contract of OF Lewis Brinson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Brinson, 28, was acquired on Thursday in a trade with the Astros. A former top prospect, the outfielder will get a look over the final few months to see if he can offer some value in 2023. His track record suggests it’s unlikely.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the Giants have acquired Lewis Brinson from the Astros.
He was probably going to be pushed off the 40-man roster in Houston amid their round of September callups. The 27-year-old former top prospect holds just a .199/.248/.323 career batting line in the bigs, but maybe the sinking Giants will want to give him a nice look down the stretch.
