Lemuel Jeanpierre will take over as the Seahawks right guard with Paul McQuistan filling at left tackle.
What a name. Lemuel comes from Proverbs 31: Sayings of King Lemuel in the Bible. Jeanpierre comes from a Haitian grandfather who settled in Louisiana. Undrafted out of South Carolina in 2010, Jeanpierre also has the nickname “Lem-opedia” due to his high football IQ. OL coach Tom Cable has had success plugging in backups the past few weeks, so Marshawn Lynch should keep rolling along.
  • Lemuel Jeanpierre and Drew Nowak are battling for the Seahawks’ starting center job.
When the Seahawks gave up Pro Bowl center Max Unger in the Jimmy Graham deal, an already shaky offensive line got significantly worse. Jeanpierre is a 28-year-old career backup and Nowak is a former UDFA who spent 2014 on the practice squad. Russell Wilson faced pressure on a league-high 46.0 percent of his dropbacks last season, per PFF. It’s no coincidence he also went nuts on the ground for 849 yards and six touchdowns via 118 rushes.
  • Seahawks re-signed G/C Lemuel Jeanpierre to a one-year contract.
A versatile interior reserve, Jeanpierre was set for restricted free agency. He made three starts in 2013, but won’t be counted on for a first-team role in 2014. Jeanpierre turns 27 in May. He’s a former UDFA out of South Carolina.
  • Seahawaks released G/C Lemuel Jeanpierre and DT D’Anthony Smith.
Jeanpierre was a candidate for the Seahawks’ starting center job, but quickly faded. Drew Nowak will be the team’s Week 1 starter. Smith has made only two appearances since the end of the 2012 season.
  • Seahawks re-signed C/G Lemuel Jeanpierre.
Jeanpierre appeared in all 16 games in 2013, but didn’t spend much time on the active roster last season before being signed to make three late-season starts Weeks 13-15. He’ll compete for a depth interior line job this summer.
  • Seahawks re-signed G/C Lemuel Jeanpierre.
CB Crezdon Butler was waived in a corresponding roster move. With key reserve Patrick Lewis injured, the ‘Hawks need some depth along the interior. Jeanpierre was released ahead of final cuts in training camp. His return is unlikely to last long.
  • Seahawks signed G/C Lemuel Jeanpierre and DT Travian Robertson.
OT Andrew McDonald S Steven Terrell were waived in corresponding roster moves. The Seahawks are just churning the bottom of the roster for depth purposes. Jeanpierre appeared in all 16 games last season, and could see snaps with C Max Unger battling a high-ankle sprain.
  • KC Tight End
Chiefs waived TE Leroy Banks, WR Rich Gunnell, OG Lemuel Jeanpierre, OG Dan Santucci, and OLB John Russell.
Gunnell flashed in the preseason, so he may get a look for the practice squad as an undrafted rookie. The rest of these players were roster fodder.
  • Seahawks promoted OG Lemuel Jeanpierre from their practice squad.
A former defensive tackle, Jeanpierre went undrafted out of South Carolina last April. He’s unlikely to be active for any of Seattle’s postseason game(s).
