Donnell has been practicing without limitations at OTAs. He should be fully healthy for training camp, but his role is up in the air after his injury-filled 2015. Will Tye is strong competition for Donnell.

It is a sign of just how open the competition for the starting job is. Larry Donnell and Will Tye, who took over after Donnell went down with a neck injury last season, are still the clear favorites, but neither has established himself to this point. It is possible the duo ends up sharing snaps during the regular season. Tye has much more fantasy upside, but he needs to win the job outright to enter the TE1 conversation.

There hasn’t been much clarity to Donnell’s “battle” with Will Tye, but Donnell seemed to spend more time with the first-team offense this evening. His catch tonight was his first of the summer. If nothing else, Donnell is going to remain a big body who can box out defenders in the red zone, but it’s quite possible he and Tye cancel each other out from a TE2 perspective.

Per reporter Jordan Raanan, Donnell looks back to full speed after the G-Men thought he was “playing a little slow” in the spring as he returned from his neck injury. Donnell is battling Will Tye and Matt LaCosse for the team’s starting job. Unless either Donnell or Tye has clearly emerged by the end of camp, it’s a situation to avoid in fantasy leagues.

Donnell is in the early stages of the concussion protocol. He’s not expected to play Sunday night against the Packers. Donnell should be considered week to week.

Donnell was splitting snaps with Will Tye. Until a clear leader emerges in the Giants’ tight end corps, Donnell won’t be a viable TE2 in fantasy leagues.

Will Tye will be the Giants’ primary pass-catching tight end against the Packers, who are allowing the fifth most fantasy points to tight ends. Rookie Jerell Adams will take over as the No. 2 tight end. Tye makes for an enticing Week 5 streamer at the thinnest position in fantasy football.

He’s been cleared from his concussion and will play against Baltimore.

His biggest contribution was a lost fumble. Donnell should be on the wire.
