NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports the Dolphins are working out free agent RB Lamar Miller.
With Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed, and Phillip Lindsay all on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the Dolphins currently have no running backs on their active roster. Gerrid Doaks and Duke Johnson will both get called up from the practice squad if the Miami backs aren’t activated soon. Miller has appeared in one game over the past two and a half seasons, logging a pair of receptions for Chicago last year. He would land behind Johnson and Doaks on the depth chart if he signs.

    Saints signed RB Lamar Miller.
Miller, 30, will join the team’s practice squad a couple weeks after they lost Tony Jones to an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for about a month. Dwayne Washington looks like Alvin Kamara’s direct backup with Jones out. Miller is a long was from fantasy relevance.

Free agents RBs Duke Johnson and Lamar Miller are visiting the 49ers.
Adam Schefter later added that T.J. Yeldon was also invited to the visiting party. The 49ers have seen four running backs go down to various injuries since the start of the season. Raheem Mostert is already out for the year while Trey Sermon and JaMycal Hasty both left in Week 2 and did not return. Elijah Mitchell injured his shoulder and was able to return versus the Eagles but his status for Week 3 is still uncertain. Trenton Cannon is the only healthy back on San Francisco’s roster right now. If either veteran back signs with the 49ers, they will likely play a secondary role to Mitchell or Cannon.

    Washington released RB Lamar Miller
Miller lasted one preseason game, totaling 24 yards on six touches with a touchdown against the Patriots last week. The release saves just $850K, but opens up more snaps for rookie Jaret Patterson. Miller played in only one game last year and has been limited to 15 appearances since 2018. The 30-year-old will look to sign with another team before Week 1.

Washington RB Peyton Barber lost weight this offseason.
Barber’s hope is to take on more pass-catching duties in 2021. First, he’ll need to beat out rookie Jaret Patterson and Lamar Miller for a roster spot. The Football Team used the veteran as a between the tackles banger last year, while J.D. McKissic absorbed most of the passing game work out of the backfield. Barber, 27, sometimes worked as Washington’s goal line back in 2020, much to the chagrin of Antonio Gibson drafters. Barber in 2020 had the second-fewest rushes (94), rushing yards (258), and rushing yards per game (16.1) of his five pro seasons. Barber, who saw double-digit carries in three late-season games while Gibson was sidelined with a toe injury, would hold some fantasy value should Gibson miss time in 2021. McKissic, meanwhile, is a lock to maintain pass-catching duties in the case of a Gibson injury.

Washington re-signed RB Lamar Miller to a one-year contract.
The Football Team acquired Miller from the Bears’ practice squad late last season. Miller, who will be 30 in August, hasn’t seen extensive usage since 2018. He suffered a horrific knee injury in the 2019 preseason and has since bounced around the league. He caught two passes for the Bears in 2020 and didn’t see a touch for Washington. The veteran will be buried on the team’s depth chart to start the season.

    Washington signed RB Lamar Miller.
Miller was added off Chicago’s practice squad. It’s a sign Washington doesn’t expect Antonio Gibson to return this week. Miller have to go through COVID protocols before he’s eligible to play.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Bears RB Lamar Miller will be elevated from the team’s practice squad to the active roster for Week 10 against the Vikings.
David Montgomery has been ruled out this week so the Bears were down to Ryan Nall, Artavis Pierce, and Cordarrelle Patterson on the active roster. Miller hasn’t taken the field since 2018 because of an ACL injury and he wasn’t able to make the Patriots roster this summer. He’ll likely split work with Nall and Patterson in Week 10. He isn’t worth a look off the waiver wire for most fantasy teams.

  • DET Running Back #5
Bears RB David Montgomery has entered the league’s concussion protocol.
Montgomery exited Sunday’s game against the Titans with a concussion. He had another uninspiring performance, rushing 14 times for 30 times and catching three passes for 12 yards. A workhorse role has made Montgomery barely startable in 12-team leagues as he’s once again among fantasy football’s biggest letdowns. Ryan Nall caught four of four targets and scored a touchdown in Montgomery’s absence against Tennessee, and Cordarrelle Patterson had three rushes and four catches. Lamar Miller could be called up from the team’s practice squad if Montgomery is expected to miss Week 10 against the Vikings.

  • FA Running Back #35
Bears RB Ryan Nall caught all four of his targets for 35 yards and one touchdown in the Bears’ Week 9 loss to the Titans.
Nall didn’t record a rushing attempt with David Montgomery exiting the game after a head injury. He was targeted on four of his seven pass routes against Tennessee. Cordarrelle Patterson, meanwhile, had three rushes for 13 yards and caught four passes for 27 yards against Tennessee. Montgomery missing Week 10 against the Vikings could lead to a split backfield between Patterson and Nall unless the team activated Lamar Miller from its practice squad with intentions to play the veteran in Montgomery’s absence. Only the most running back-hungry fantasy players should be interested in Chicago’s backfield. Nall and C-Patt are OK pickups this week in deep formats.
