The Pittsburgh Maulers selected Kyle Lauletta seventh overall in the USFL draft.
The first round was designated for all teams to take their quarterback, and the Maulers spent the seventh overall pick on former Giants QB Kyle Lauletta. The former Richmond Spider – who was taken in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft – appeared in two games for New York during his rookie campaign, attempting five passes but failing to record a single completion. He’ll now look for a new beginning in the upstart USFL, which is set to kick off in April.

  • FA Quarterback #17
    Browns waived QB Kyle Lauletta.
A fourth-round pick in 2018, Lauletta was let go by the Browns earlier today. In addition, the Browns waived/released WR KhaDarel Hodge, DL Sheldon Day, RB Johnny Stanton, LB Elijah Lee, DL Joe Jackson, DL Cameron Malveaux, DL Curtis Weaver, S Jovante Moffatt, DB Elijah Benton, WR Ja’Marcus Bradley, TE Jordan Franks, TE Kyle Markway, G Colby Gossett, LB Willie Harvey, LB Tegray Scales, RB John Kelly, C Javon Patterson, CB Emmanuel Rugamba, and DT Marvin Wilson.

  • FA Quarterback #17
Falcons waived/released QB Kyle Lauletta, DB Delrick Abrams Jr., DT Hinwa Allieu, OT Ka’John Armstrong, QB Kurt Benkert, DB Jamal Carter, DB Chris Cooper, RB Mikey Daniel, DE Austin Edwards, OG Justin Gooseberry, WR Devin Gray, WR Juwan Green, DB Tyler Hall, OG Sean Harlow, DB Josh Hawkins, OT Evin Ksiezarczyk, OT Sailosi Latu, WR Jalen McCleskey, TE Jared Pinkney, RB Craig Reynolds, LB Edmond Robinson, WR Chris Rowland, LB Ray Wilborn and DB J.J. Wilcox.
Lauletta was briefly a camp arm. The Falcons are going with only Matt Schaub behind Matt.

  • FA Quarterback #17
    Falcons signed QB Kyle Lauletta.
A 2018 fourth-round pick of the Giants, Lauletta hasn’t become anything in the NFL. This is his third team in three seasons. He may just be around for a couple days ahead of final cuts in Atlanta.

  • FA Quarterback #17
Eagles signed QB Kyle Lauletta to their practice squad.
Lauletta will start on Philly’s practice squad, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him replace No. 3 signal-caller Clayton Thorson on the active roster at some point. The 2018 fourth-rounder of the Giants notably tossed four scores this preseason, but still comically has more interceptions (1) than completions (0) in the regular season so far.
  • FA Quarterback #17
    Giants waived QB Kyle Lauletta.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports there is a “lot of backup QB intrigue” for Lauletta. The 2018 fourth-rounder will compete for a QB2 job elsewhere, but he does have more interceptions (1) than completions (0) so far.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Giants QB Kyle Lauletta underwent a “knee cleanup” this offseason.
The 2018 fourth-rounder was limited at the start of OTAs, but ESPN’s Jordan Raanan expects Lauletta to return in the near future. Still, it is a blow to Lauletta’s already slim chances of cracking the final roster. The Giants used the No. 6 overall pick on Daniel Jones, who is expected to open the season as Eli Manning’s backup.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Giants QB Kyle Lauletta is active for Week 17 against the Cowboys.
Lauletta failed to complete a pass in clean-up duty during Week 14’s blowout win over Washington and has been on the inactive list ever since. The Giants putting Lauletta in uniform today suggests they are open to getting him playing time in the season finale. Even against a Cowboys team resting starters, Eli Manning is not a good fantasy option.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Giants declared QB QB Kyle Lauletta, WR Odell Beckham, C Evan Brown, TE Garrett Dickerson, DT John Jenkins, CB Tony Lippett and S Kamrin Moore inactive for Week 15 against the Titans.
Lauletta tanked in his NFL debut last week at Washington, missing on all five of his attempts while also throwing an interception. Clearly the rookie still has some rough edges to smooth out. Eli Manning will be backed up by Alex Tanney in Week 15. TE Rhett Ellison (ankle), CB Curtis Riley (wrist) and OT Nate Solder (abdomen) are all active for Sunday’s game at MetLife.
  • FA Quarterback #17
Giants coach Pat Shurmur left the door open Monday for fourth-round rookie QB Kyle Lauletta to see late-season playing time.
More definitively, SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano reported Monday the Giants “intend to play (Lauletta) at some point this season.” Eli Manning’s utter lack of atheticism has been a disastrous combination with New York’s leaky line, while Manning’s arm strength is on par with a peashooter. Ben McAdoo was fired after two seasons as Giants coach in large part for benching Manning and upsetting the fanbase. The Giants are just now realizing McAdoo was right.
